Yup - my first 3 tweets were all Elon. Sounds like having his engineers work all weekend fixed the problem that he wasn’t getting enough views.

I only have one. I think the people I follow mostly don’t engage him.

I was just noticing this today, thought I was nuts. I don’t even follow the dude.

And everyone getting a push notification for it as well :grimacing:

I was getting so much unwelcome Elon that I muted him, and that seems to have done the trick. At least for now.

There’s no way he will continue to allow people to mute him. FREEZE PEACH!

Did the same. I got all the Elon tweets since 2 people I follow also follow him.

I feel Elon is just daring people to block him. I think he genuinely thinks his content is so great no one will, but he is truly a crappy poster and only interesting in the way other cringe is - problem for Elon is that gets boring after a while.

It’s just unreal to me that we don’t have a better alternative already. Twitter is a hellhole.

Instagram was the alternative to Twitter. And TikTok is the alternative to Instagram.

Ridiculous as it is, I understand the part where the billionaire burns some percentage of his unimaginably vast wealth so he can make people read his posts. But how do the other people who contributed billions to this endeavor feel about this? Was their goal just for Twitter to die so this is fine with them?

A lot of these people are just stupid. Jack Dorsey could have cashed out at $54 per share. Instead he rolled over all of his stock which will end up being worth $0.

That was then - shouldn’t the Saudis be getting ready for a bonesaw party?

Depends on what the Saudis wanted. Their primary objective may not have been to make money.

Still seems like the value of Twitter is not zero. They have cut a ton of costs and despite all the LOLs in this thread it doesn’t seem like any of you guys are quitting Twitter yet or using it much less.

And there’s the long term value for them in propaganda. If right wing media owns all the local TV, the biggest national network, Twitter was one of the last platforms that was really giving good journalists a lot of reach and now they have that. Maybe Musk can take on an additional investor like Murdoch now that he’s basically completed the full heel turn.

It actually would make a lot of sense for Saudis or Elon to buy back the debt for pennies on the dollar and get rid of the interest expense. Like if they don’t intend to let Twitter go bankrupt and the interest rate is 8% and they can buy the debt for 40 cents on the dollar, then they’re getting a pretty good ROI.

The saudis are just as internet brained as the rest of us. They got to meet epic bacon guy elon musk and talk to him about colonies on jupiter or whatever the fuck. That’s easily worth a few billion from their multi trillion dollar stash.

It’s zero above the debt, though.
