Douchebag 2.0—an Elon Musk company

It’s gonna be fun when Elon starts insta-banning any speech he doesn’t like, and the credulous MSM comes back with headlines like, “Once hailed as a champion of free speech, Elon Musk treads into uncertain waters”.

I legit didn’t make the connection FYI :/

I think there’s a good chance Elon wants to usurp Trump as the pied piper for the reactionary right, so he can become kingmaker for the Republican Party without the drawbacks of being a public official.

‘Branch Covidian’ was repeatedly posted here in 2020. If Musk’s usage is common then it has done a full 180 from who the term used to be applied to.

Urban Dictionary contains both versions.

So, some people think it refers to people who take no precautions, some people think it refers to the “pro-lockdown” side, and a fair number of people have probably never heard the term.

My guess is that it probably started out referring to the no precaution folks (the logic being that they had signed up for a death cult), but then those folks decided to take the term and flip it to mock people who they thought were taking Covid too seriously.

Everything on the dipshit right has been co-opted from other people. All their comebacks are some variant of ‘I know you are but what am I’.

It’s looking that way. It’s going to take some serious threading the needle and mental gymnastics for the electric car guy to pull over the coal rolling red hats from Trump. He’s going to have to dial up the racism quite a bit more.

He’s the little Elon that Could!

FWIW Blogger was made by EV Williams (that’s a Casey Newton joint at the Verge).

EV then made Twitter.

He then made Medium, the real Twitter 2.0 (or Blogger 3.0), to write what were essentially long-form tweets.

So for Musk to now dilute the very constraints that make Twitter uniquely appealing from other platforms…
