Douchebag 2.0—an Elon Musk company

He’s asking staffers to sign a pledge indicating they’ve understood.

A non-disclosure agreement acknowledgment. An NDAA.

That seems legitimately terrible.

Sure, if you take it at face value. But how much credibility do these people have at this point? If that single incident is as bad as it sounds based on their description, why all this Twitter Files mumbo jumbo? Why not just give those specific records to 60 Minutes and let them do the rest, they live for that shit.

There definitely seems to be smoke there that twitter didn’t give a shit about this stuff.

Pre-Elon I had to report a post with an image that used the N-word 3 separate times to finally get a result. So this wouldn’t surprise me.

Can one of our lawbros tell me what’s happening here? It continues on appeal. Who won the first case?

Ok nm, I found it buried 20 paragraphs down.

In August 2021, the Federal District Court ruled that the Plaintiffs’ claim against Twitter for knowingly benefiting from their sex trafficking should move forward. Twitter is appealing that ruling to the Ninth Circuit. The Plaintiffs cross-appealed and their opening brief can be found here.

Well sort of, still no idea what’s going on. Sounds they’re just arguing about whether or not the lawsuit can even happen? Lol lawspeak as always.

It’s awfully difficult to separate “didn’t give a shit about this stuff” from “weren’t very good at blocking it”. I am all for holding the social media companies to higher standards, but I am highly skeptical of these Grand Conspiracy Theory notions that the Elon Cult is pushing. And I am definitely not on board for any plans for Elon to “fix it” with free speech absolutism.

Yeah I’m not saying that. I’m saying gross incompetence/indifference produced the same result. I reported a lot of racist shit on twitter, and it was super hit or miss if they gave a shit.

I pictured some boiler room sub-sub-sub contractor in Bangladesh just machine-gunning through posts to make their quota before being fired.

I’m sure it’s much better now that Elon fired everyone.

That makes sense. My instinct is that if you want to best understand Twitter’s past behaviors (including failures), then the absolute worst place to learn about that is from current Elon Cult members creating a conspiracy theory in real time.

Are there really pedos who publicly post images on Twitter? Seems like a great way to get a knock on your door from the fbi. I’m sure there are a few out of millions of users, but I remember the McMartin preschool thing.

Like if you’re an idiot and have no actual understanding but want to vilify someone, the pedo strawman is just out there waiting to be deployed. Worked for comet pizza, works for qanon. Elon did it. Would be a shame not to deploy when you can create a moral panic while pointing at the enemy. It really lights up the ole amygdala.

Then again, was only 20 years ago that the head of the GOP turned out to be a pedo. People still mention Clinton’s alleged sexual perversion, but you almost never hear anyone discuss Hastert. Dems should raise it every single day. “Well, my opponent did vote for a pedophile to be speaker of the house.”

Any site that allows anonymity and doesn’t actively police child porn seems to be quickly inundated with child porn.

According to the lawsuit, this kid was 13 and was talked into doing things by himself and with another minor by an online blackmailer (which absolutely does happen). So the video or images could have looked close enough to two 18-year-olds to not raise any red flags.

And then incompetence and indifference refused to do anything about it until Homeland Security got involved. Given twitter’s spotty racist content moderation, I could easily see that.

Even the worst stuff I reported would sometimes take months to get a reply. And then they’d just say yes or no, with no link to the original tweet. So I had no idea by that time which tweet it was. I got a very clear “don’t bother us” message. They did get better in the last few years where at least they’d provide a link to the tweet in question.

I mean when it takes 3 tries to get them to ban a cartoon of a black person with the caption “Mr. (N-word)” - you know there’s something wrong with the process. And that was just last year.

Yeah, there’s anonymity, but if you upload child porn to Twitter via some burner account, I think you’d be in for a lesson on mistakes that can be made in trying to be anonymous online when there are knowledgeable people with subpoena power trying to figure out who you are.

Not saying it’s not possible in theory to cover your tracks, but most people who would do something like post child porn on Twitter are not criminal masterminds.

Team might be cut in half but those left are HARDCORE

lol giving lip service to any of this shit. Twitter was just another unfeeling self serving tech platform, just like the rest of them. It only gives as much of a fuck about child porn or hate speech as it feels is valuable to it. Nothing unusual about it.

Those ads won’t sell themselves! Honestly, Elon is actually smart and this is just a massive art project. It’s the only explanation that makes any sense.

Hmm the killer posts a confession.

the mastodon fediverse is picking up momentum, not even close to a critical mass yet, but it is inching in that direction

on the other hand, seth abramson says the fediverse is bad and post is good, which basically confirms that my gut instincts that mastodon is good and post is bad are correct.

Yep Elon is already starting up the Q brigade

This is a glass house Elon doesn’t really want to go into.

Does anyone else think Elon is able to be highly manipulated by intelligent people who work for him?
