Elon’s businesses do actually produce goods and take in some kind of revenue. Holmes’s business was pure nonsense and no one with a science background thought it made any sense at all, but she still got horny venture capitalist bros to bet 9 BILLION on her business model because she had “the right kind of background” and cosplayed as Steve Jobs. I don’t think there’s ever a better example of investors falling for pure bullshit. So much of our economy is just pure Calvinball.

Again, I think the discussion about financial speculation or how Tesla books revenue or whatever is boring, but a revolving door at the top of the accounting department would tend to disprove the idea that there’s an accounting scam, because every time you get a new CAO, you not only need to get the new guy to agree to it, you have to (somehow) get the old guy to agree that he’s just going to go to jail along with everyone else when it blows up rather than blowing the whistle.
Frankly, that’s bullshit in the real world. Most everyone who stumbles into a shit show quickly resigns and says “culture” or something. A whistle blower never gets another job.

My sister says the Wendy’s near them shut down because they couldn’t get meat. Things could spiral pretty quick with rural folks if they can’t get their daily fix of fast food.
Meanwhile all the herpderps are crowing about getting us back to work and opening back up NOW. Going to be a rude awakening when these small businesses open back up to higher costs and a fraction of their normal traffic and are quickly out of business. And a side dish of another Rona flare-up.

disclaimer: I own both a Tesla car and Tesla stock. I want that company to do well, not just for me but because making EVs popular and common is a good goal. If that means Elon goes away, fine.
