Assuming it isn’t just performative nonsense and she’s thinking she needs to change the part she is playing in the political charades to try and stay in power.

My read on MTG is that she is one of the most normie members of Congress. She is famous for being ill-informed and her belief in insane conspiracy theories, but if you think about it, her takes are no less informed and no more insane than your average dumbass coworker. I think she is genuinely disturbed by her colleagues’ complete moral bankruptcy on every issue, with Gaza and Epstein being the most glaring examples where they’re not even pretending to have sincere beliefs.

I think MTG is only concerned about herself (although I tend to think this about pretty much every politician). She rode this wave by being loud, obnoxious, and constantly attacking any attempt to fix things that were broken. Now that she’s part of the party in power she has no idea what to do. (Not unlike a lot of the extreme left and right.)
She’s facing a loss of her cash cow because the voters gave her what she wanted and she can’t deliver, so she is pivoting back to what worked for her: attacking whoever is in power.
At the same time I won’t pretend I have any idea what is going on in her head. If she is actually sincere, just extremely misinformed despite having access to a plethora of information to become informed, then I guess that’s something. If she actually tries to go independent or whatever, then great. Hopefully she takes some with her.

I think she’s doing the right thing now regarding Epstein and Gaza. You can say it’s a political calculation or she’s only right on Gaza because of antisemitism. I’m not saying there’s no element of those, but she does have the generally correct positions and is acting accordingly. Like here’s a vote to stop funding Israel that she introduced. The only people who voted for it were her, Thomas Massie, and four of the best Democratic members of the House.

This is probably true which is why it’s terrifying. She is a white supremacist anti-semite. I don’t think she would care as much about the children in Gaza if Jews weren’t doing the killing, and I assume Epstein also fits well into her internal narrative, such as it is.

Even if she wasnt antisemitic, her claimed reasons for being against aid to Israel is “America first”.
If she stops repeating propaganda directly from putin, and starts wanting to help Ukraine, then I could believe she is actually starting to look at morality instead of relying on uninformed populism and extremely broad/dangerous policies.
She’s also a failed nepo baby whose dad handed her the family company which she promptly abandoned to run a cross fit gym. This is also highly representative of the Republican ruling class, a bunch of losers that started life with unearned wealth and privilige and never acheived anything with it still but think they’re the heroes of the country.

As far as I know, she is still a multi-millionaire and was before entering Congress. People in Congress rarely get poorer than when they got in.
It is very well documented that this happens. Judges and several republican senators have claimed it before.
Even theo von claimed he was getting threats when he asked dhs to take down his clip.
Then there’s the actual cases of violence already mentioned, like Pelosi’s husband, or Giffords.
I think the threats are real.

Yeah. I don’t get that either. Maybe they’re assuming she’s going to get threats so they’re trying to drum up business for themselves? I think she probably will get some threats though, which is what the MAGAs do.
