Nah, a new decision would take some time, even if only a week or two. Then he’d appeal it to the circuit court which adds a couple months, then back to SCOTUS to sit on it for god knows how long. In other words, WARP SPEED!

When it gets sent back the parties will have to submit briefs (weeks) then have a hearing (weeks) then get a decision. After that the appeals court will stay the proceedings pending the same stupid shit, then that will be appealed to the Supreme Court and bam you’re already way past the election.
Of course all of this was totally predictable and the villain here is Merrick Garland and by extension Joe Biden for not appointing a bulldog.
Especially since SCOTUS normally recesses between July and October, and, if the goal is really to delay, it’s easy for them to just stick to the traditional schedule and just not move on the case at all if something comes up during that time (or only have an “emergency session” that tells Chutkan to not start a trial until SCOTUS has ruled on a procedural issue)

wikipedia says he’s been in an english gaol since 2019 while his extradition to the usa is going through their court system. 5+ years for something that i had imagined would happen like that day, or at most one working week.

Nightmare scenario Trump wins, dictatorship initiated day 1, @clovis8 declares total victory over consequences morons, H5N1 goes wild kills Ginger the last remaining Gilligan’s Island cast member, I forget my passport and get caught up in some immigration police bullshit, get deported to a random Central American country and I have to brush up on my Spanish.
