I only half-listened to this week’s Prosecuting Donald Trump, but I think if this is a complete dismissal of Trump’s immunity motion, it may entitle him to an immediate appeal that could end up delaying trial.

Not gonna lie. I’m very concerned about these trials getting off in time. The good news is, I think once they start, they don’t take very long to complete. But then, even if found guilty, he’ll then have the appeal process to abuse all over again (as far as my understanding goes anyway)

A New York appellate court Monday told lawyers for Donald Trumpthat they missed a deadline to seek permission from a panel of judges to quickly consider a request to file a higher court challenge to a gag order against Trump in connection with a $250 million civil fraud case.
Trump lawyers sought prompt permission from the appellate court to ask the Court of Appeals, the state’s highest court, to pause a gag order against the former president issued by New York Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron, who is presiding over the fraud trial.
If I have this right, they missed the deadline for an expedited appeal. So then they thought they’d ask Engoron to delay Trump’s testimony.

When Judge Cannon makes elbow-rubby, silly goose jokes like this with clownsel during the documents case, no outrage tears from the left are allowed.
Sure, Engoron is a hoot, classic law room tomfoolery and verbal hijinks. But the stakes are so high, and this behavior could have implications in future trials. I wish he’d just shut his yapper and say “no” in that quoted situation.
