Don’t forget the color lady
omfg this life of ours
Blacks, Jews and Italians most often are winters
Yang just pointed out how households in silicon valley are phone-free/screen-free(the tech manufacturers/employees knowing how deleterious their gadgets are to healthy development)
the noise and idea pollution is literally catastrophic to well-being
That whole segment was something.
Wait for it: These people were pimping for the DeVos family.
my man 6ix!
welcome, bro
I like the dunk, but don’t know what it means.
I’m going through to break down screen time in this debate because I’m a masochist, and I finally figured out what it was about Bill. Every time he talked he looked at the camera and talked like ‘Live from New York it’s Saturday Night!’
Michael Moore is fantastic. John Pilger is great, too.
You should check him out if you haven’t.
Roger and Me is a great documentary.
I wonder how someone so brilliant like Yang can maintain his sanity in a world like ours.
I mean, legitimate maturity and acceptance and strength required, when you’re not an ignorant cog in the bumbling machine’s advance
Will check out Pilger. Recommend me something specific if you can.
I thought the screen time thing had been debunked, at least to some degree.
That’s the catalyst for my facepalm. This entire forum is left-libertarian in the political compass sense.
ok recommendation coming.
he used to have a full channel at utube, which included his various works throughout the decades, but it was removed for some reason.
Wasn’t meant to be a DUNK dunk, just that of the four squares on the political compass “left libertarian” is one of them. The green one.
But also Proudhon et al.
Fwiw nunnehi I do agree with you about Moore’s fast and loose editing. It’s hard explaining that to laypeople.
here’s a place to start. The beautiful North Vietnamese fighter at the start <3
the video was once available in its entirety, now it’s reduced to a bunch of 4 minute parts.

What do you guys want, some sterile intellectual manifesto that reaches no one but the erudite?
Moore’s presentation is fine
Liberators!
I’m exacting on context and chronology, and I am critical even with people I work with when they violate that.
There are essentially three types of documentary styles:
- Trying to get people to say what you want.
- Editing people to say what you want even if they don’t say it.
- Letting the story tell you what to do, and keep it all in context.
That’s why it’s really crucial to not set an agenda for your story before you start. What if your story goes somewhere other than where you planned? Are you going to try to keep that and lose where the story told you to go?
A great example of this is the Icarus documentary. That guy had a lame premise that probably would have sold for how stupid he was to do what he did if it had gone as he’d planned out. By the time things went off the rails, that original premise was in the dust. I think the guy was actually being run by the Russians in that, and had no clue (there was a film noir moment where the kompromat happened). He was basically going to be a free guinea pig for their doping program (without having to burn their own elite athletes) that would have been undetectable until it all blew up. It’s really worth watching if anyone hasn’t seen it.
