Im not concerned with “looking bad”, I’m concerned with the truth. She lifted the rape scene from her deceased father’s novel. I have enough confidence in my judgment and I know how my judgment has performed in the past. The evidence that she is lying is overwhelming. I could’ve reached my conclusion with less evidence, but this identical scene in her father’s novel bats it out of the park. It’s really not even close.

Nah. Currently there are 1440 people in held detention, all of whom are in Australia, only 5 of whom are children. There are another 650 or so living on a temporary basis in the community in PNG or Nauru. These numbers are all decreasing. The offshore detention centres currently don’t hold any people. The daily average of people held just by ICE in the US was 42,188 as of 2018.
If I had to list the biggest problems in Australia I guess I’d say: climate change denialism, the infiltration of derpers and the hard right into a previously straightforwardly neoliberal conservative party (which is a worldwide problem), the intractable problem of the welfare of indigenous people, and the shameful reliance of state governments on gambling revenues, with attendant social problems. The treatment of asylum seekers is a side issue within a generally liberal immigration policy.
