Their beer was a big selling point a while ago. But with so many microbrews and IPAs in America, the gap in quality has closed. Of course financially Czech beer is more bang for your buck but you’ll definitely find better beer on tap at many bars in America than at a typical place in the CR.
Food is normally some kind of pork with bread dumplings. It’s very rich, heavy and bland. They normally throw on a tiny bit of vegetables to make it appear to be a balanced meal.
To put Czech cuisine into perspective, the traditional Christmas meal of Czechs is carp. An absolutely shitty, horrible, bottom feeding fish.
Even beyond the sexism, like, anyone who has ever come into contact with kids knows that that little boy is a massive favorite to be way, way less peaceful than the older girls.
I def agree with this and was just looking for a cheap punchline. Illustrating me getting the sentiment (and perhaps inspired by it), I just did something similar for Christmas for my mom this year.
She’s a widow and I’m an only child. I run errands for her 2-3 times a weeks as well as do any honey-do’s necessary when I stop in and maintain the yards and the like. There wasn’t really anything to get her that she needs or wants materially (last year we got her a new TV) so what I did was I found clipart images of the things that I cook for her occasionally and drop off (chicken strips, alfredo, fajitas, soup, etc) and made a binded booklet with coupons for each item uploaded online via office depot.
It’s a throwback to what I did as a child (I think I was offering massages at the time) except I had it made with glossy cardstock and the like. There’s a Merrry Christmas cover and a second page saying each item to be procured is at the expense of the issuer. I was going to have it perforated but I don’t think she’s actually going to want to rip anything out of it.
