Lol why is he in El Salvador? Was he trying to fight the MS-13 threat at the source?
If antibodies are indicated still he’s not hypoxic yet. Might not be that sick
I read the story that HE was asking for the antibodies, not a doctor. I suspect that a guy who didn’t get vaxxed also doesn’t know that you need the antibodies early on.
An anti vaxxer at work keeps asking me what the big deal is if you can still be a carrier of covid after being vaccinated. IOW, why should anyone care about the unvaccinated?
I admit I’m having a hard time with a good response. I know you’re less likely to be a carrier if you’re vaccinated, but breakthrough cases are pretty well documented. And as long as people who are vaccinated remain safe, what is a good rebuttal to his argument?
97 percent of deaths are unvaccinated.
And unvaccinated people that get Covid tie up limited health care resources. And they are more likely to catch and spread Covid. And they keep Covid in circulation mutating, undermining the effectiveness of vaccines for everyone. Unvaccinated people make the pandemic worse for everyone, not just themselves.
you lost the minute you decided to engage this dipshit
Just like seatbelts and airbags the vaccines prevent many of the worst outcomes. Additionally, the vaccines make you less accident prone.
In the nuts . . . hard.
Right, but his take is so what? As long as YOU’RE vaccinated why should you care that he isn’t?
Tying up health resources and abetting new strains are the main arguments I keep using against him. But pvn is right. He’s an illogical dipshit who doesn’t care about the elderly or overweight people. I really shouldn’t engage with him at all
There’s not much danger of that. I’m already on record downplaying the hyperbole surrounding the dangers of covid for the vast majority. The difference is, I’ll go very far out of my way to protect the vulnerable whereas, he can’t be bothered. He’s also irrationally scared of these vaccines and thinks they are unsafe
My overall take is I don’t really feel it’s my place to push anyone to get vaccinated except to say that I wish they would. I definitely get that forced injections are different than seatbelts and how it could lead people to think it’s a dangerous precedent to set. I counter this by pointing out that no one is actually being forced to get vaccinated. They have the option of getting tested regularly. As long as this is the case, I’m fine with it
Didn’t everyone go over this in your own skepticism thread?
Because you want the pandemic to end?
It’s possible that I don’t remember. I’m not a very good debater especially in real time. Yet it still bugs me when I can’t refute a position I think is clearly wrong. I’ve probably already forgotten all the counter points I should be using with someone like this
Edit: Some of the things he says makes sense to me. Like if the vaccinations protect you then why should you care if others aren’t?
Wanting the pandemic to end seems like one of the better points to be made
99.9999% of kicks to the nuts aren’t even fatal, why would I block?
Vaccines protect against the variant of the virus they were designed to counter. Unvaccinated people give the virus reservoirs to mutate and those mutations can give the virus added defense against the vaccines as we saw with the Delta variant.
Protection from getting sick isn’t even the main benefit of vaccines, our ultimate goal should have been total eradication but the far right decided to extend their pro-life stance to viruses.
He has a healthy distrust of governmental institutions and MSM (as do I). It doesn’t help that Fauci lied or that people are shamed for any questioning of authority. I brought up gain of function a while ago and got immediately pounced on from all sides
The difference is, I trust the overall science and don’t think there is some grand nefarious conspiracy
Isn’t this a little bit disingenuous? Quitting smoking (or not being a smoker) doesn’t protect you from 2nd hand smoke and no one claims that it does. Many do claim however, that being vaccinated protects you against serious effects from covid with death being almost nil
I agree with you, but think a problem with a lot of discourse is this tendency for all or nothing dialogue with no room for questioning or gray areas
It actually sounds like an unhealthy distrust of government institutions. At some point, there is so much evidence of something (in this case the effectiveness and safeness of vaccines) is so overwhelming that anti-government narratives would require conspiracies at an absolutely impossible level.
How does he feel about drunk drivers?
