Apparently the original ending had Morgan Freeman shoot him instead, so Brad Pitt wouldn’t uh commit the sin of wrath or whatever, thereby kind-of sort-of stymieing the guy’s plan. I think they said they decided the audience wouldn’t find it satisfying or something, heard this on an audio commentary or some DVD special feature.
