He said its possible, even likely, the vaccinated people spread it in two separate posts (he just quoted himself saying that)? Not sure how you are drawing your conclusions.
He said its isnt definitive evidence because it isnt a controlled population.
I asked âSo you do not believe that in this case, vaccinated students were transmitting to other vaccinated students?â and he said âItâs possible, and even likelyâ
Seems pretty clear to me he does not believe that vaccinated students transmitted to other vaccinated students.
Im missing something I guess. You asked if vax to vax happened, he said its possible/likely, and your conclusion is he doesnt think vax to vax happened.
Hes saying it isnt evidence it happened because the college population was still interacting with outside/less vaxxed population, so cant prove that it happened and that it isnt evidence that it happens efficiently between vaxxed people.
The last part is open for debate, but he clearly isnt saying there wasnt vax-to-vax transmission because he explicitly says there likely was.
The poker industry seems to rarely do much more than fire people.
When I worked at the Hard Rock poker room in Las Vegas, we had a floorperson steal the poker bank, plus the dealerâs tournament tips, walk them down to a nearby casino, and lose it all. He was fired, and a few weeks later was working at the Venetian.
Other highlights of working at the hard rock poker room - the management team that opened that room was like the worst of the worst in poker. The decisions they made doomed the room from the start. For example, on opening day we had about 6 live games going, all 1-2 and 2-5 no limit. We also had an invitation only grand opening tournament in the early evening. They made the decision to break those cash games because they needed the tables for the tournament, a tournament that was all super high limit players and celebrities, so basically nobody that was ever going to play in the room again. So, youâre a local, and youâre checking out this cool new room (the design and aesthetics were awesome!), and you get kicked out for a tournament that you canât even play in!
It just went downhill from there. The original management team was so fucking bad. Itâs really indescribable how bad they were. The only good thing that came out of that job was 1. I got to see Lyle Lovett at the Joint with like 20 other people in the audience. It was a great show. 2. It led to me leaving Vegas, and ultimately getting out of poker.
That and the line to Rehab was right in front of the poker room. There was great eye candy in that place. Itâs the only place I worked where I saw bare breasts, as well as a vibrator left on a side table in the poker room that was used at the poker table the night before.
Was also the only place where I witnessed a player vomiting on a dealer.
Itâs possible that I misinterpreted him since he wasnât clear, but his statements and tone are against this supporting vax to vax transmission, and I responded to the statement of the population not being isolated, with the DPH epidemiologists stating that some of the transmission was on campus in apartments and residence hall rooms. This is not an RCT, so it is not 100% isolation, but it sure seems like this is real world evidence of vaxxed students transmitting to other vaxxed students. If he agrees with that, then thatâs fine. It would also point to other outbreaks not necessarily being overwhelmingly due to unvaccinated people out and about, not masked vaccinated people out and about, or even unmasked vaccinated people out and about.
Ok to clarify FOR THE THIRD TIME. No, this is exactly the opposite of what I believe. FFS. That still doesnât demonstrate efficient transmission in a vaccinated community. These kids donât live in isolation, and it sure seems like a lot of people went out and partied with the locals.
Your the only one who had trouble interpreting his post. He said was itâs possible/likely that vax to vax infections occurred. He is questioning/doubting that vax to vax is a major driver of infection even in that environment.
Thank you for the clarity. I agree that vax to vax spread is likely, and I agree that some students went to bars off campus, however their DPH epidemiologists also believe that some of the spread happened âon campus in apartments and residence hall roomsâ and that âThis transmission started a chain reaction of people picking up the virus and then passing it on to others in more settings where masks were not being worn.â This seems to support efficient transmission in a vaxxed community.
His tone is generally to be very harsh towards anything that he sees as starting down a slippery slope that leads to believing that one does not need to get vaccinated. Thus, he zeroes in on the question of whether fully vaccinated people can efficiently transmit the virus.
Heâs not denying that vaxxed can transmit to vaxxed, but he is pushing back against the possibility that you might believe or come to believe that being vaxxed has no bearing on the ability to transmit the virus, so the vaccine doesnât really help prevent spread.
It really doesnât support efficient spread among vaccinated people. Can happen doesnât mean efficiently happens. If I were to bet I would say that covid cases will decay rather than grow in a 100% isolated/vaxxed community. Thatâs basically the opposite of efficient transmission.
Given that dorm rooms are a specific risk factor for contagion spread that is specifically taught as super high risk for diseases and this population mingles with the locals, no, it does not.
Vaccines are very effective at reducing transmission, period.
Exactly how effective, what measures need to be implemented besides vaccines, and whether vaccinated/asymptomatic transmission is efficient (and what that definition is) is open to debate.
Would be nice to read more thoughts on that, less weird gotcha or strawman games and fewer personal attacks.
Then I would 100% agree that the Conn College thing isnt evidence that R0>1 in a 98% vaccinated population (and not what the quoted epidemiologist was referring to as spread), but Im not convinced that we arent going to find that turns out to be the case.
