I think the most likely explanation is some kind of selection bias in one or both studies. But the most likely biological explanation if thereâs a difference has to be that the UK used a different dosing schedule for Pfizer than what we use in the US (8-12 weeks vs 3). Moderna is a much larger dose and spaced at 4 weeks in the US. The combination of tight-spacing/low-dose could produce either a weaker response overall or, as you suggest, maybe just a shorter-lived one.
