death, disease, or other biological malfunction in a human, an animal, a plant, or another living organism;

deterioration of food, water, equipment, supplies, or material of any kind; or
The government has put out a very vague “road map” for returning to normal, there is acknowledgement that eventually covid will need to be treated as an endemic disease, but we are lagging behind on vaccinations and will need everyone who wants a vaccine to get one. I anticipate the borders opening up probably mid to late next year.
Thought I’d shift this here. We actually had a death in NSW yesterday, but it was this woman whose twin sons travelled from Sydney to regional NSW to work as removalists despite knowing they had covid. They are Middle Eastern origin and blaming a language barrier but c’mon, Sydney is in lockdown and they got a covid test, it seems hard to believe. Police have charged them with breaking quarantine.
And the mother, after diagnosis with covid she was offered care in a specialist facility and was like “nah I’m good actually I’ll just stay home” and three days later was dead. Does this all amount to WINNAR status? Not sure but not totally devoid of WINNAR characteristics in her gene pool for sure.
It’s not terribly conclusive. This is an antibody generation study, not a clinical outcome study, and antibodies aren’t a perfect proxy for clinical outcome. They aren’t the totality of your immune response, either.
Macron doesn’t have daughters afaik and the antagonizing tone also doesn’t match his recent speeches so this is almost certainly a fake quote fwiw…

It’s weird, as you say Macron isn’t framing things like that and it’s far too clear and direct and not nearly pompous enough to be him. It appears to have originated at this curious site which seems to specialise in weirdly written ‘news’ of unknown origins. It claims it was a ‘summary’ of a speech he made on the 17th, but he didn’t make a speech then. (Most of it is about measures he announced several days earlier)
Twitter detectives figured out that the quote is coming from an Italian journalist’s Instagram post. I’d be curious to know in more detail how this ended up being attributed to Macron. I wish he’d actually said it of course

Dr. Brytney Cobia said Monday that all but one of her COVID patients in Alabama did not receive the vaccine. The vaccinated patient, she said, just needed a little oxygen and is expected to fully recover. Some of the others are dying.
In a last ditch effort to get my MIL/FIL vaccinated we offered to pay them a sizeable amount to do it. That probably seems a little weird or crass but we are out of options as persuading them, even with their daughter’s first hand Covid experience has been totally fruitless. They just say stuff like “If it’s my time to go, it’s my time to go”. My partner and I are both pretty scared for their well-being as they are both in their 60s with significant comorbidities and both work at a school. Vaccination rates where they live are obviously negligible. Their odds of surviving the school year do not seem great. Their response to the offer, at least for now, is not talking to us.
I am having a hard time not wishing some very bad things on all their Kansas hillbilly friends and extended family poisoning their minds with all the conspiracy stuff. They aren’t the type to watch FN/OAN/etc. so they are getting their brains melted by the people closest to them.
I mean they have all their vaccines and my partner had all her vaccines. So this is purely a brain melted by being surrounded by right wingers over the last few decades situation.
I work in the wireless construction industry and I was talking to a coworker yesterday catching up with a long phone convo since i work remote and we covered a wide range of topics, eventually he brought up covid and how people he follows on instagram were pushing 5G conspiracy theories which is funny since we install 5G so he knows thats bullshit at least, but we got to talking about covid and he of course isn’t vaccinated. He is mid 50s, way overweight, numerous health issues. I told him multiple times during the convo to get the shot and the last time i saw him in person a couple months ago, several of us told him to get it, but he brushed it off basically.
