COVID-19: Chapter 6 - ThanksGRAVING

As previously posted, I can directly empathize with this.

I’m not supporting going to a bar. But your replies seem a lot more sweeping than that to me, so I apologize if I misread/mischaracterized your views.

Regardless of what truant was trying to say or not say.

VD going to an outdoor bar right now is selfish

You can dance around it all you want, but it’s selfish.

I have seen my dad twice in 10 months and both times outside on the patio

We aren’t even seeing him for Xmas and he’s 69 but people get to go to the bar because they have the sads

Fuck that.

Yeah, I respect this point of view, and I don’t think I’m suffering more than others. I do know that at the place I was in my mental state had deteriorated to where I was having trouble with basic daily tasks and my work responsibilities and suicidal thoughts had crept back in. So when I made the decision to start venturing out more, it was over concern for my own well being, so it was a selfish choice, but it wasn’t justified based on the notion that I was suffering more relative to others and therefore deserved to go out. And I should say, I wasn’t yoloing or doing anything like last night. Over time I’ve become desensitized to the risks and so there has been a gradual ramping up. And that’s why I’m greatful for the feedback, including the negative feedback, I’m getting from y’all. It helps me maintain some perspective when nearly everyone around me is living as if it’s business as usual.

Someone should pod up with Viridian.

If I was cracking under the pressure and felt the need to go fuck in Costa Rica or hangout in a superspreader event I would simply not post the details on a forum full of people taking it deathly seriously

Good for you.

Wait, why can’t you walk down the street to get the mail?

I’m only about an hour north of you. When this is over, or when I’ve been vaccinated, we can meet up at PBKC and take some money from some Trumpkins.

Get tested and pod up now?

Fuck, man that sucks. I’m glad you’ve got loved ones around you at least. That level of restriction seems absurd to me, but as y’all see my perspective is pretty skewed. I hope you get some reprieve soon through vaccines.

I’m not mad at you.

Two things can be true

You need to go to the bar because of your personal stuff

It’s selfish to go to the bar right now

It’s a very tough time

I can’t pull the trigger on live poker right now, though I think about it every day. I’m hoping the layoff will be good for me, though I can’t really reason why it would be. I keep thinking maybe I’ll hit Hard Rock Hollywood or Coconut Creek just to play some table games. I think that would be pretty safe. But every time I think I’m going to say “fuck it” and go, I pull back. Its about a 90 minute drive and I’d be looking to get out as soon as I got in, so I always talk myself out of it.

If anything, news of the vaccine is driving me further into my shell for the moment. With the end almost in sight, I don’t want to get pozzed after being this careful for this long. I’ve pretty much determined that I won’t go to the National Bowling Tournament in Vegas unless I’m vaccinated. My team is scheduled to go in late April. So it falls right in that grey area of whether the vaccines will be available by then. But if they are, should be fun.

Seeing pictures from a rooftop bar / meat market next to posts about @CaffeineNeeded’s hospital putting out the bat signal for more staff really is something.

Wait, is @Cactus the son of @ViridianDreams? An alter ego? A burner account?

It seems like we won’t be vaccinated until 2022 at this point. Maybe late 2021?

High risk people will be, which is most important, but most of us won’t be and not enough for herd so how different will 2021 be for us?

Are you looking in my window or something? How did you know this? Creepy.

I figure between half the population YOLOing it up all winter, whatever vaccine they can distribute between now and the springtime, and then the springtime weather - we can hopefully start getting back to normal next summer.
