COVID-19: Chapter 6 - ThanksGRAVING

Since the modding thread got closed this seems like a clear spot for a warning from a mod. I am going to assume none of them has seen it. @riskyflush @skydiver8 @anon46587892 @microbet @goofyballer. Apologies for anyone I forgot.

Look we are all going through a very tough year, needlessly poking people, instigating fights or being an asshole is not productive and makes the person doing it look bad. Be best!

I hope you are right. I think some of us do care about others. I don’t think the people packing into bars, restaurants and churches care about about other people. That seems like a lot of people unfortunately.

To clarify, I thought the percentages in death of 90yr+ folks pozzing was 50+ and therefore why wondered US would let them leave a hospital?

Presumably, the ER docs himself doesn’t perform the tests, so the family and older guy ended up meeting / chatting it through with ER doc for a reason.

Like what’s the point in the old man getting the test?

I don’t think they understand what is going on. This became a culture war issue instead of a public health issue.

I use think leadership was an overrated quality. I guess it is until you actually need leaders.

And you are using the current numbers. The DAR (deaths above replacement, a little take on baseball WAR) is probably 50% higher.

Hi hello. You can always use the @moderators flag and it will notify all current mods.

What is the issue? Cliffs or relevant posts?

Churchill’s post from 28m ago. It’s pretty callous towards Caffeine who is probably not having a great time at work this year. I will use the other tag from now on, I didn’t know that was a thing.

Only 12-14 fold. :face_vomiting:

You’re always allowed to refuse medical care. Even in the UK. Even if it means you’re going to die.

Maybe I shouldn’t give a good faith response, but w/e.

Understood. Think I’d go drive thru’ test next time.

Idk never been there but I just looked at their weather data and it says the daily high is in the upper 40s or low 50s through the winter months but the low is around freezing so they probably do get ice storms.

Thanks man I appreciate it. Work is really busy today and I don’t have time to go through all the replies but I’m already in therapy. I can’t tell if I already got covid and am suffering from covid brain, or if it is the isolation or what but I’m definitely making very simple mistakes and what I do is very complicated sometimes and cannot afford to make mistakes. I feel like I’m doing terrible at work.

Man the fact we may only be halfway through this fills me with a dread I can’t even describe. I’ve got til like - june I can handle this. Maybe may. After that it’s gonna be YOLO time. I’m kidding, but only half.

@churchill, you’ve been requested to tone it down or knock it off. I second this as a fellow poster and as a mod.

You are welcome to express the same boundary should you find yourself on the receiving end.

To the rest, I think his post is cruel but not worthy of moderation. Whether we agree it is a cruel post, it is having a harmful impact that I believe is easily considered and attended to.

If you have a problem like this with a poster, please try putting them on ignore. Mods will deal with any poster who others leave alone but continues to provoke drama and conflict. I just ask that you first take the steps to 1) tell the offending poster to knock it off 2) put them on ignore.

If there is an immediate crisis where a poster is doing more than being an asshole, please use the flag feature to request immediate assistance. We will work at being better collaborators with our members to help us all enjoy this place and community with healthy boundaries that allow us all to live and post with relative freedom and acceptance for incompatible personalities.

US WW2 veteran beats Covid-19 in time for 104th birthday

Major Lee Wooten, a World War II veteran from Alabama, has recovered from Covid-19 and made it back home from the hospital just in time to celebrate his 104th birthday.

Madison Hospital in Madison, Alabama posted a video of Wooten - known as “Pop Pop” - being discharged from the hospital, his wheelchair decorated with balloons, as staff cheer and wave him on.

His granddaughter, Holly Wooten McDonald told the Associated Press that her grandfather, “their family’s treasure”, appears to be feeling better.

Wooten was drafted into the US Army in 1943 and served as a railroad carpenter stationed in Paris in WWII.

What spot? Itt or the mod thread, which I see is full of problems.

I’m working today and certainly won’t be able to figure that situation out.

I think it’s taken care of so no worries. I’m an old who didn’t even know how to send out the moderator bat signal as that is not something I have ever done lol.

My wife asked me today if I’m depressed and all I could think to reply was lol who isn’t?

I don’t actually think I’m depressed in a clinical sense, but typically about as upbeat as anyone I know and never really stressed (DINKs ftw) but yah, the realization of a frigid winter cooped up inside in the northeast is starting to wafflecrush up here. Add in many of us choosing not to see family or friends over the holidays and it is indeed going to be dark.

The spring should be super great though, right?!

This is good modding, respect.

Onion or Ohion? Allowing wrestling is dumb enough, but the no shaking hands rule just breaks my brain if I try to compute it. They’re gonna be breathing each other’s breath and grabbing each other’s hands and wrists the whole match. By the time it’s over, with all the contact and sweat exchanged, a dog won’t be able to smell them apart

I lurk the wrestling reddit and it’s sad to see all the HS kids on there acting like this is just another season. None of them are the least bit concerned about covid, in fact they’re probably more afraid of ringworm (since you can’t wrestle if you have that). Any time there’s news of a state stopping wrestling or requiring masks, they’re like “aw that sucks for you bro, glad I’m not in that state.” I realize they’re the least likely people to be harmed by covid if they catch it, but what about their parents?

But aside from that they seem like a good generation that gives me some hope for the future. My teams, by contrast, were mostly toxic assholes.
