COVID-19: Chapter 5 - BACK TO SCHOOL

Here it is since June 1:

What are you talking about? Official data has us generating >40k new cases a day, and still almost 1k deaths a day.

It’s pretty misleading to put the “False” meter next to the true statement “Herman Cain died of Covid-19, not cancer” - the claim being debunked is the opposite!

Having the true statement be next to the false meter is not great

My pony’s speed is false on the truth meter

Idaho just having a normal one as unmasked, armed protestors break a window, push past state troopers and ignore social distancing measures in order to fill up a legislative session.

Forgive me if I suck at interpreting these graphs but here’s what I’m taking from them. I’m basing this on that weird shaped ‘u’ or ‘v’ that shows up I’m guessing around late July though it’s hard to tell on the graphs where it starts. These are all me guessing and again I could very much be wrong here:

Looks Legit:

AK, AZ, HI, IA, MD, MI, MT, NC, NE, RI, VT, WA, WY

Looks Suspicious:

CA, CT, DC, DE, IL, MA, MN, MO, ND, NJ, NM, NV, OH, OR, PA, SC, UT, WI

Looks Manipulated:

AL, AR, CO, FL, GA (might be under suspicious), ID, IN, KS, KY, LA (could also be under legit), ME, MS, NH, NY, SD, TN, TX, WV, VA

July 27 (Mon): 55,102 (testing 760,840)
August 17 (Mon): 37,932 (testing 651,329)

July 29 (Wed): 66,209 (testing 839,868)
August 19 (Wed): 45,409 (testing 680,934)

I think you might be misinterpreting me here. I’m not at all saying there’s a miracle going on, I’m saying the fast reduction in numbers looks like a miracle to those not paying attention. I’m saying there’s manipulation going on even though I absolutely do believe cases are going down from the peak.

OSU just released data on testing. Positivity rate is extremely low:

Classes started this week, so the question is whether that number will stay low or experience a UNC-like explosion. Fingers crossed.

The teacher was not fired, merely placed on immediate leave. A university spokesman refuses to say whether Poor will be relieved of teaching duties.

So this is the full clip. He goes to offer the kid a place to stay if times get hard while he’s stuck in the US and talks about the places he visited in China. Don’t think he should get fired for the joke or anything.

Intent matters.

Terrible joke though.

I do not think he should be canceled for this.

Student should have pointed out that the prof is more likely to have Covid thanks to Trump.

Seems totally fine to me and even a bit lighthearted. Cancellation of this professor is officially cancelled.

it will be the latter if there’s any sort of population density on campus.

Yea, this is the sort of awkward\bad joke that I’d make during a fist impression and immediately regret. My brain would then file it with the rest of these moments for the 1 am ‘sometimes I’m an asshole’ playback while I’m trying to fall asleep.

An apology should be fine here.

WHO and UNICEF joint statement says that children 5 and under should not be made to wear a mask.

oh it’s worse for Idaho

Lawmakers voted Tuesday to advance a resolution that would end Idaho Gov. Brad Little’s coronavirus emergency declaration, a move designed to lift restrictions across the state that would also strip Idaho of its eligibility for some federal emergency aid money.

The 48-20 vote came despite concerns voiced by some members that such a resolution was in violation of the state Constitution and outside the scope of the special session, during which legislators are required to adhere only to the subjects on which it is called.

yes I’m sure without looking it up the punishment is lol nothing matters.

Rep. Christy Zito, R-Hammett, agreed during the debate that restrictions should be lifted, saying she was disturbed by some of the precautions related to the pandemic.

“We are putting our children in plexiglass cages,” she said. "We are masking faces so those that are hearing-impaired feel lost and cannot function.

wait, you’re putting your OWN children in cages now?
