We are in trouble, the widely derided IHME model has predicted 295k deaths by December 1…
Tap dancing Jesus. There are apparently new episodes of Restaurant Impossible on Food Network helping restaurants cope with the rona. OK, so far, so good. Mr. Clean, who’s running the show, gets off his bus wearing a mask, arriving at a restaurant he’d previously helped to help them further with the lockdown. Cool. First order of business, touring their restaurant for how it complies with safety concerns. Great. He steps inside, and immediately removes his mask. The fuck? He complains about tables too close together, the takeout window isn’t set up well, etc. Good. Bring out the owners, who are masked. He sits on the opposite side of a not-all-that long table from them, and immediately tells them to take off their masks. Alright, go fuck yourself. This is some fucking bullshit that’s going to get people killed. No matter how much you help them with their take out, this is terrible.
I think you are certainly fine to nicely ask him to put his mask on or do the paperwork in another room.
If you haven’t left your house in 14 days, that seems like a quarantine in your home state to me.
Awesome info - ty.
The districts I’m aware of in Livingston county are returning in the fall with reductions in capacity for bussing and classrooms and the sort of mask and distancing policies you’d expect. Parents can also opt for either fully online or a hybrid model.
In Monroe county, it feels like a 50/50 split of no in person and hybrid 2 day a week in person with opt out. Things are still fluid obviously with start dates not for a few more weeks.
So schools are open for the first week and two schools are already closed again because of an infected teacher and a student. Next week my state goes back to school.
Don’t worry everything will be fine.
In today’s least shocking news update:

Paging the WHO.
Just go see him if it’s that important to you, I wouldn’t but I don’t really have a deep need to see people, even my closest friends.
Yes the percentage of this will be quite low but given the sheer number of kids back in school it will not be uncommon.
Feel like there has to be more to the story than that. It’s hard to square how people who are coughing and sneezing aren’t much more infectious —that’s the very reason the virus tries to trigger these responses!
OPEN THE SCHOOLS!
This is really sad but eventually he would have had cancer or heart disease or a car accident.
Seems like the principal is doing him a favor keeping him out of school.
I think we’ve learned that healthy individuals spread it very efficiently by loud talking at bars, cheering at games, singing at church…
This is an oddball where symptoms may net limit spread given human awareness of the disease.
Oh and we’ve been stupid as a species/culture about influenza forever. If it’s flu season where a mask in crowds and stay home if you feel sick but can’t miss work/school/church/the big game.
I got suspended a few times in junior high and high school. Getting to sleep in and not go to school is the opposite of punishment.
