Blood test lags infection so you can still test negative while being infectious. Blood test are also still very inaccurate. It looks like some people are not producing the antibodies that are tested for and somehow still managing to clear the infection.
It really pisses me off that people who are being careful are now the potential collateral damage for those who are being reckless assholes. Iâm sorry you two are in that boat, and I hope it works out okay for you.

This is dubious in my opinion, it was speculation on the part of the Premier. If you read further through his comments:
He added that carpooling between staff may have also contributed to the spread of the virus.
âYou can never be certain but there also seems to have been some likelihood that some carpooling arrangements between staff may well have meant that they were in closer contact than you would like,â Andrews said.
Gee, you think? I donât have a problem believing it was potentially the lighter given that this is an object that you put up to your mouth to use, but in a situation where they have people working together and carpooling, Iâm not sure how theyâd know, even if the staff claimed to be keeping their distance.
Also this is just media reporting bullshit, thereâs no way even in theory to say that an infection was picked up off a chopping board. What they mean is they found viral RNA on a chopping board, thus proving that it was handled by an infected person.

Or they could just say the primary method of spread is through the air, but people still need to wipe down surfaces and be careful because smear transmission is a thing too.

Has anyone on this forum gotten covid yet? Itâs a pretty good testament that just basic precautions, and preaching the same to anyone you live in the same house with, is probably very effective.
Itâs not like weâve all been perfect. Iâm still a little nervous about eating at an outdoor restaurant and all the social contact I had last Friday.
Iâd be a lot more terrified if we had like half a dozen members who thought they were taking every precaution and still got it somehow.

Wouldnât you think that if you lived in LA County and were concerned youâd been exposed it would be pretty easy to go get tested? Well, I would. And I would be wrong.
Given how many people are asymptomatic, we canât be certain that a bunch of us donât have it.

Regarding the excess deaths, the FT has a repo of their data, which Iâve copies over to our repo, and started on code to generate plots. Iâll add the state plots maybe weekly or however often they update, and maybe do another US map to show the states that are over or under. They also provide links to other sites working on collecting and interpreting the data:
