COVID-19: Chapter 4 - OPEN FOR BUSINESS

States that issued orders similar to Cuomo’s recorded comparably grim outcomes. Michigan lost 5% of roughly 38,000 nursing home residents to COVID-19 since the outbreak began. New Jersey lost 12% of its more than 43,000 residents.

In Florida, where such transfers were barred, just 1.6% of 73,000 nursing home residents died of the virus. California, after initially moving toward a policy like New York’s, quickly revised it. So far, it has lost 2% of its 103,000 nursing home residents.

Disney accepting the NBA/MLS into their “bubble” then opening up those areas before games begin is so irresponsible. We know how Florida is. How are they handling COVID worse than they have handled the Star Wars franchise?

I assume you meant to write “Da fukin bomb!”

#50 is in the Hall of Fame. He also later became a head coach, where he is mostly known for mooning his team during a talk.

This is a great chart. But it’s also basically saying “New York got hit early and is declining while other states are increasing”

Right?

Changes in NY haven’t mattered in weeks, too low to impact the overall totals.

Animated guide: What is the true death toll of the pandemic?

At least another 130,000 people worldwide have died during the coronavirus pandemic on top of 440,000 officially recorded deaths from the virus, according to BBC research.

A review of preliminary mortality data from 27 countries shows that in many places the number of overall deaths during the pandemic has been higher than normal, even when accounting for the virus.

These so-called “excess deaths”, the number of deaths above the average, suggest the human impact of the pandemic far exceeds the official figures reported by governments around the world.

Nearly 500 Russian medics dead from virus

Some 489 medics have died in Russia after contracting coronavirus, the country’s health watchdog, Roszdravnadzor, has said.

The latest toll is a sharp rise from the 101 reported last month.

Roszdravnadzor chief Alla Samoilova said problems in supplying protective equipment had been a contributing factor.

“If I’m being honest, there were issues at the start, there were some shortcomings,” she said.

With more than 561,000 cases - including 7,790 during the last 24 hours - Russia has the third-highest number of cases globally. Its official death toll stands at 7,760.

Do these numbers include the ones that were thrown out of hospital windows?

OK, PM me the details.

So I posted this on Facebook. It’s gotten a lot of responses. Lots of “well actually” from centrist both siders

I was in the deep south when the Vikings kicker missed his first FG all year to send the Falcons to the Super Bowl. Flew through Atlanta the next day. Agree 150%

lol NZ:

Host Duncan Garner asked: “What else do you know? What’s another case that you’re sitting on this morning?”

Mr Woodhouse said he had a “more flippant one” but a “reliable source” told the National Party about it yesterday.

“One of the five-star hotels housed a homeless person for a couple of weeks under the pretence that it was someone who came back from overseas,” he said.

“When the person was ready for discharge, he was asked for a forwarding address, only to tell the official that he didn’t have one because he was homeless.

“He hadn’t come back from overseas, he just joined the back of the queue two weeks ago, and spent a fortnight getting three square meals and a bath every day on the Government.”

What a horrific thing to have happened.

Sigh. The outside service for my wife’s grandma is off because the limit is 10 people. So they are doing it inside a funeral home. This is so irresponsible.

WTF kind of sense does this make? There is a 10 person limit for an outside service?
