There are UV-C lights which can be used to kill viruses and sterilize rooms. Only negative is it will burn your skin within seconds and can cause blindness.
There are special bulbs reproduce the part of the UV spectrum that disinfects things, but they’re extremely dangerous for obvious reasons.
thank god I’m not the only one who sees “Social D” and thinks of the band, not pandemic mitigation techniques
If someone tells Trump the first part but not the second part, he’ll probably get a tanning bed made with them and put it in the White House.
I saw them open (along with Sonic Youth) for Neil Young and Crazy Horse in high school. First time I ever took mushrooms.
The massage place I used to go to emailed me that they are reopening and one of the measures they said they were taking is disinfecting the rooms with UV light between each client. Could they be using those kind if UV lamps? Or does it require special training and/or a license of some sort?
I always refer to the as “vectors, “parasites” and “carriers” but then the uptight Moms get offended.
I love my kids with all my heart, but yours are vermin. :)
They’re just using the same lights they use to illuminate all the semen.
From S.C. DHEC.
Here’s update for today:
So it’s going up but lagging the influx of new cases by a week.
While cases are down this week percent positive is high (13%) indicating we probably have a lot of people not getting tested.
I think you’re joking, but in case you’re not this isn’t a rub and tug massage place. More like therapeutic massage and physical therapy.
Yup. The recommendation for biohoods is to leave them on but it reality they should not be on when people are in the room.
I think they only need like 15 minutes. The real problem is people leave all their reagents and pipets and shit in the hood which kills the effectiveness by shadowing. The reflective metal surface helps but when something’s is dependent on light rays and laminar airflow obstructions really screw up the execution.
Sounds like it. I imagine UV tanning places have access to all kinds of specialized UV bulbs.
I sure hope so, but I have no idea.
It’s actually more important to find the semen in the legit places.
OK, so they’ve got 607 and I’ve got 957 to 1532, but I’m counting the last week of cases then adjusting for that at the end. So essentially, if they are in that range next Tues night/Wed am, my model is working to predict number of COVID hospitalizations.
I’ll now adjust my numbers for non-COVID hospitalizations there:
7411-607 = 6804/10,498 = 64.8%
It now shows them 16-35 days away from overflow. Using their current hospitalized cases, number of available beds and the current estimated R0, I have them hitting capacity in 21 days. The back end of the range includes scaling up total beds by 50% and thus represents a lot of makeshift adjustments, so we’ll see how that plays out.
It appears the model is working, and I think the key is to pick those 4-5 that are red and go in and look for the specific data like you found, run the numbers, and see where it falls.
Hey man, whatever you call it.
I’m sure that this is not original but do you think the covidiots think the word is Freedumb?
Why not both?
Almost nobody is wearing a mask in the CR anymore. Nearly everybody still wears them indoors in small places like convenience stores and pharmacies but otherwise it’s a minority of people.
Even the harder hit areas aren’t that bad now. Prague has been the hardest hit and currently has 800 active cases. That’s 0.06% of the city’s population. For a guy like me, if I get then I get it. I mean, I’m not gonna look for stupid things to do but I’m way less worried now than before.
So this Beijing situation seems bad. This is probably linked to the altered symptoms in the post I’m replying to.
Chinese officials described the situation in Beijing as “extremely grave.”
“This has truly rung an alarm bell for us,” Party Secretary Cai Qi told a meeting of Beijing’s Communist Party Standing Committee.
The latest Beijing outbreak started at a major whole sale food market, Xinfadi, where a “mutant strain” of coronavirus was reportedly found on a chopping block used to cut up salmon.
Very vague about this “mutant strain” thing but historically it feels like we want to err on the side of over- rather than under-reaction to any information China deigns to provide. And it certainly looks like they’re freaking the fuck out over there. They ramped up testing in Beijing on the 14th, so 4 days ago, and expect to have tested 700,000 people by the end of the day. Just in Beijing.
The UV sanitizers I saw in the hospital looked something like this. The tubes were ~5 ft long. Like a Star Trek transporter.
I assembled vacuum systems for metal film deposition in grad school. I had to figure out for myself not to look through the windows at the plasma because it would burn my eyes.
