Similarly concerned. Though ours is going to pre-k so I know realistically she won’t remember them. We’re fortunate enough to not have to send her to daycare this summer again cause we can WFH but damn the feels when she asks about her classmates and why she can’t see them.

I’m sympathetic to the people who want to meet up with their families, but there is a counterpoint.
Also, this is going to dampen my “Santa Clara county is doing GREAT!” enthusiasm:
Nonetheless, visitors appear to be flocking in as the weather warms up. Traffic choked Highway 17 at noon on Friday, with a thick line of cars driving from the Santa Clara Valley to Patchen Pass, a summit in the Santa Cruz mountains. It resembled a typical Memorial Day weekend.
ruh roh
I know I’ve posted about this before but if I hear one more person tell me that this isn’t that bad because they know someone who got it and didn’t die I’m going to slap them.
Also heard a woman without a mask say “if you’re concerned, take the precautions. I’m not.” Yeah, that line of thinking works great for drunk drivers
I’m going to vent a little here.
A few days ago we had a drive by birthday for my 1st cousins son’s 1st birthday. I go with my sis and we meet up with others in a parking lot, mostly everyone stays inside their car except one of my other cousins (pretty sure he’s a big trump supporter, he is one of the biggest douchebags around and I despise him so much) and another family. Okay whatever you guys wanna be careless cool. But then we drive by the house and once we drive all 20 or so cars start parking and getting out to say happy birthday (2 families were all wearing masks, no one else), I look at my sister and say wtf??? We both agree that we are not staying and leave.
Today one of my cousins in NY tells me how her dad tried to show her and her brother an hour long YouTube video about Bill gates and the virus being a hoax and all this shit and they got pissed at him. Now my dad asks me when restaurants will be open again here so we can go and I look at him like wtf. He talks a lot with my douchebag cousin from prior story and starts saying how there’s no virus and shit and seems to be on the Bill gates conspiracy train sighhhh.
It seems like sooo many people around are starting to think this shit is fake just because it wasn’t extremely bad everywhere and all this shit is overreaction. Also bill gates is somehow smart enough to conduct a global conspiracy and not smart enough to stop some random idiots with an internet connection from finding out about it
My stay inside inspo for this week.
Oh, and another state just admitted to combining antibody and viral tests in their testing data.

Where I live in FL people are definitely not taking it seriously. It’s like 95+ every day so hopefully that’s helping.
I am starting to think a significant portion of Americans never had a single uncomfortable moment in their life before corona virus.
Bro you know how many people die from heart disease?
I don’t get that 100,000 dead is “not so bad”… these people were previously saying that corona is overrated cause 25,000 die of the flu. We quadrupled that in a few months.
Wasn’t that in reference to the extra $600/wk of UI? The people making like 10% more on UI than they were while working really irks the GOP, it’s such a trigger. We all know why… But I think they’ll be forced to pass something they’ll just make sure it’s like 2 to 1 corporate handouts to help for poor folks.
Tough to watch this and the other similar videos and not feel anything other than complete repulsion at these creatures.
+1.
If I had the option to go to Canada, I’d be gone. Surprised you’re still here.
A lot of them are going to die. Alot alot. If one good thing comes of this it might be many of them getting shaken up badly and actually questioning their programming.
The impairment rate in people over 50 with comorbidities is going to be high. The IFR is going to be really high when the hospitals get overrun. This thing is a huge preventable tragedy, but I’m starting to realize that death cults inevitably end in death.
I just hope it’s enough.
Sometimes I feel like while there’s lots of good people out there the human species as a whole shouldn’t be allowed to continue
Dude this thing is really obviously just beginning. Lets page the narrator in September. Near death experiences shake people up. Either I’m right or they’re right. They aren’t the first human group in history to be impossible to rout. They’re a bunch of babies who’ve never not gotten what they wanted. This is going to be a very bad experience for them.
I fear you underestimate the power of the cognitive dissonance. But sure, we’ll check in with the narrator in Sept.
I’ve been through massive cognitive dissonance personally multiple times. It’s not something people face voluntarily I’ll grant you that. That being said I strongly suspect that these people are about to get traumatized pretty seriously.
