COVID-19: Chapter 4 - OPEN FOR BUSINESS

And before anyone trots out the viral load theory, yeah I know. But unless you are literally saying you are fucking trying to get a mild case from your takeout, take that shit to one of your staying home is tough, man commiseration sessions to rationalize whatever bullshit you want.

if you don’t have any contact with the employees and reheat the food and wash your hands… is it really that much risk? isn’t this a respiratory illness?

fwiw, i just had first takeout in the last 2 months.

Vitamin D deficiency is 1) unusual 2) overdiagnosed 3) but pretty harmless and ease to fix. If you’re a pasty faced Irish/German, 10-15 minutes a day of sun exposure is plenty. Double that if you’re black, at most.

One of my senior attendings felt it was essentially for impossible for a normal adult to have severe Vitamin D deficiency - but took it every year for flu season because why not - cheap as rain water, essentially impossible to OD on. I’m not aware of any bad side effects, and maybe it helps (or the placebo helps, take your choice)

I do wonder what the reaction would be like here in Mexico if Trump dies soon. Obviously mass jubilation almost across the board, but would they go so far as to make it a national holiday?

I really think you’re missing the point of spreading out the curve, it’s not a binary all-or-nothing thing. Lots of people taking precautions will help, even if they aren’t consistent or isolating 100%.

Somewhat arbitrary threshold, but of the US counties that had at least 1000 cases a week ago (~150) the two doing the worst are Hennepin, MN (Minneapolis) and Polk, IA (Des Moines). These are the only 2 that have more than 7% for a 7-day moving average growth in cases. Over the past week Des Moines seems to be doing better, Minneapolis is not.

Nit but latitude also matters in determining exposure time.

Altitude too I suppose? I’m like 60% higher than Denver and start to burn if out in the sun much more than 15 minutes at a time.

That is true - I’m taking a “Standard” climate and latitude - I’d guess it’s more common in Seattle/Portland vs Phoenix.

I was not aware of this until I saw a tweet, but apparently Colorado State was given a federal grant to distribute money directly to students.

Apparently, and I am still trying to verify this, but they have been giving priority to students who are not eligible for the stimulus money. This has led to some saying non citizens have gotten up to $1500 as students at CSU and it has some god fearing righteous warriors apoplectic.

Thanks, that makes sense. Maybe the differences in practice are related to the type of rooms available.

IIRC I read that if you’re wearing a bathing suit, and get enough to start to turn pink, that’s like 25-50K IU or something like that. So even in regular clothes, I’d suspect it will take very little time outdoors for you to get enough.

The scales are pretty deceptive. The % increase for the Iowa has been significantly higher until a very late turn- will it stay? Basically the % increase lines are just crossing over.

Better that it’s a seven day moving average but still could be influenced by reporting irregularities or testing rates.

Now THAT’S a real country.

Mikovits was recently a guest on Patrick Bet-David’s popular YouTube podcast. She claimed that the current pandemic is caused by a flu vaccine from the 2010s and that wearing a mask would somehow activate the coronavirus. She also claimed that Fauci—whom she blames for “sabotaging” her CFS research—should be charged with treason.

And vampirism. Fortunately, Blade was a daywalker. Blacula, on the other hand, was almost certainly deficient.

Yeah, all the stress I am feeling now, take out doesn’t seem worth it. Also, feeling stressful about the pack of tangerines I ate after washing with hot water 24 hours earlier. Probably should have waited a couple of days - or drop in boiling water?

What’s the solution? Eat only dry food products that you can keep in your trunk for a week prior to consuming?
