COVID-19: Chapter 4 - OPEN FOR BUSINESS

This is dubious in my opinion, it was speculation on the part of the Premier. If you read further through his comments:

He added that carpooling between staff may have also contributed to the spread of the virus.

“You can never be certain but there also seems to have been some likelihood that some carpooling arrangements between staff may well have meant that they were in closer contact than you would like,” Andrews said.

Gee, you think? I don’t have a problem believing it was potentially the lighter given that this is an object that you put up to your mouth to use, but in a situation where they have people working together and carpooling, I’m not sure how they’d know, even if the staff claimed to be keeping their distance.

Also this is just media reporting bullshit, there’s no way even in theory to say that an infection was picked up off a chopping board. What they mean is they found viral RNA on a chopping board, thus proving that it was handled by an infected person.

Or they could just say the primary method of spread is through the air, but people still need to wipe down surfaces and be careful because smear transmission is a thing too.

This is not that complicated.

The conservative messaging on this will be:

“We never would have had death panels in this country if not for Obama and his socialist Obamacare. ALL LIVES MATTER!”

Looks like they already have a legal out if they want one. Dunno how treaties plays into that tho.

Hill said there was a way for the UK to secure supplies of this and other drugs during the pandemic, through what is known as a compulsory licence, which overrides the intellectual property rights of the company. That would allow the UK government to buy from generic companies in Bangladesh or India, where Gilead’s patent is not recognised.

Has anyone on this forum gotten covid yet? It’s a pretty good testament that just basic precautions, and preaching the same to anyone you live in the same house with, is probably very effective.

It’s not like we’ve all been perfect. I’m still a little nervous about eating at an outdoor restaurant and all the social contact I had last Friday.

I’d be a lot more terrified if we had like half a dozen members who thought they were taking every precaution and still got it somehow.

Wouldn’t you think that if you lived in LA County and were concerned you’d been exposed it would be pretty easy to go get tested? Well, I would. And I would be wrong.

Given how many people are asymptomatic, we can’t be certain that a bunch of us don’t have it.

Regarding the excess deaths, the FT has a repo of their data, which I’ve copies over to our repo, and started on code to generate plots. I’ll add the state plots maybe weekly or however often they update, and maybe do another US map to show the states that are over or under. They also provide links to other sites working on collecting and interpreting the data:

Similar work is being done by The Economist, the New York Times, Our World in Data and Newsworthy.

No specific information about the latest Villages residents to contract the virus was provided by the Florida Department of Health. But the newest patients in Sumter County were identified as:

  • 33-year-old female;
  • 60-year-old male who traveled to Michigan recently but hadn’t been in contact with any other patients;
  • 21-year-old female who hadn’t been in contact with any other patients;
  • 60-year-old female;
  • 13-year-old listed as unknown;
  • 52-year-old male;
  • 53-year-old listed as unknown;
  • 24-year-old female;
  • 41-year-old female;
  • 60-year-old female;
  • 28-year-old female; and
  • 24-year-old female.

Looks like there’s a jiggle on the loose

It was. Maybe it’s getting crowded now? You might need to lie about your symptoms. You can’t just admit to them you’re a paranoid hypochondriac. :D

The U.S. has become an example of what not to do when it comes to coronavirus

“You have told us you don’t want to see a repeat of what you see when you turn on your TV and see reports from the United States,” he said.

This is just insane.

Is Idaho starting to creep onto these lists?

I mean lol 366 cases today, but this state only has a million people. If it were had California’s population, it would be rocking 15,000 cases.

It’s not often Trump isn’t the idiot in the picture but here we are.

Mask is upside-down.

My model sort of does this by using hospital beds per capita and population to project hospital overrun, some my date range will give you an idea. Idaho has been creeping onto the lists, but now it’s barging in and saying, “Hello, world!”
