I can drink like a demon and hand up normal liver results, not even elevated GGT. Only about 10-20% of heavy drinkers develop serious liver disease. It’s one of those things that depends heavily on the makeup of the individual.
Didnt actually know this, thanks. Thought it was pretty much a given that lifelong heavy drinkers ran into this at some point.
But how many got autism? How come nobody is talking about that? Makes you think!
Always great getting punished for being a coward. Ofc I went home on the 24th. The next day my father was positive while my mother was testing negative again. Starting last evening I felt the first symptoms of a cold and ofc the test was positive. 3rd round of Covid. Hopefully it doesnt get as bad as last time.
I don’t know if it is incredible run good or my self-imposed aggressive boosting schedule, but I’ve only had it once. Lots of travel and social events in the last year. I still do mask way more than the average person (but still not a lot). I’m sure that has something to do with it as I have also had fewer non-COVID colds in the last couple of years than I would normally expect.
So I guess I’ll keep boosting and half-assed masking.
I’m not afraid of getting COVID at all. I just really fucking hate colds and even a decent chance of avoiding a couple of days of typical cold symptoms makes it more than worth it for me.
What about the safety of other people? That’s always been my one and only concern even back when covid first started raging. I don’t want to kill anybody
Are they still keeping track of death tolls? Is it still dangerous for older people and those with pre existing conditions? I honestly don’t know. I haven’t heard much about covid since the lockdowns and mask mandates were lifted
Well, so far what I’m doing has been translating to less risk for those around me. But that’s a secondary benefit. If I’m being honest, that’s not my primary motivation.
only had it once
Confirmed by antibody testing or you’ve only (1) felt sick and (2) had a positive test once?

This is how I felt at first, particularly older friends/family and the immuno-compromised.
However, after the vaccines came out this is not nearly as big of a concern.
Had symptoms, got antibody and PCR test, both positive.
I suppose it is possible that I had asymptomatic infection more times in addition to that. But as far as I know, only once.

Right but wouldn’t it make sense that the more people keep up with vaccinations, the more covid can be reduced overall in the population thereby going a long way to severely limit if not eradicate it altogether?
Or will it always be like the flu where vaccines will never be able to keep up with new strains? If that’s the case, then I don’t feel bad being negligent just for myself. But if I can be a part of limiting it for everyone then I think I should
asymptomatic infection
Yeah, I have only been “sick” and tested positive once.
But I am assuming I had several asymptomatic infections during the early days.

This is definitely one of the biggest silver linings of the pandemic for me. Pre covid I used to get sick every month or two and it would last for a week+. I still mask at work (in a poker room filled with disgusting and often sick people), and have gotten sick maybe twice in the past 4 years. It’s freakin awesome.
I am sick with some sort of cold since Christmas Eve. I tested negative today but this is the 2nd time with some sort of cold since October. Its getting old. I have the latest flu and booster shot since October. I have not been very social since I got Cellulitis in September so this is frustrating.
I stopped masking on the subway 10 weeks ago and got sick 3 times in a 6 week period. One of them may have been covid
I’ve got an even money $100 bet with my partner that someone in the family gets COVID from this trip (15 days in Europe). We haven’t been masking at all. Overall probably slightly more masking here than in US, but it’s still very low %. I’m not sure how we’ll settle it we poz a week after it whatever but we only have 4 days left and I’m thinking I should’ve asked for some odds.
Stopped masking after the original vaccine and booster. I’m out in public all of the time, decent amount of travel but haven’t had any kind of sickness since a mild covid case in 2021. Running so hot I guess.
100% chance I get the flu or something similar in the next few weeks now.

Yeah I don’t want to end up on a Reddit of people who died two weeks after posting about not getting sick.
Back in the day I was like “I’m masking forever”, but that turns out to not be the case.
I do continue to hand sanitize, I think that might be helpful with the flu. I tend to touch my face a lot.
