Jesus Christ, are we really, in 2022, unironically linking to “studies” on unstuck politics about the efficacy of horse dewormer in treating Covid-19? Really?
I’m sure you meant to reply to LetsGambol - I posted nowt about Ivermectin other than his source in reply to Gambols post about Ivermevtin
Keep up with the thread and don’t rewrite ‘history’ - you should stick to posting your unfunny gifs
This is kind of the heart of the matter. This stuff is in the territory of Sagan’s wisdom about extraordinary claims. One off links to preprints and YouTube videos don’t count as extraordinary evidence. Its scientific whataboutism.
No. I replied to you. You were the one who posted it. Enough already.
Ya, what Dr. Ozaki said isn’t being portrayed accurately at all by the good Dr. John.
Me too. I really thought it was sarcasm.
mild? kinda proves my point that daily updates on the SA and other countries not applicable - it’s fruitless comparing
The daily death toll of the Covid-19 pandemic in the United States now stands as high as it did during the Delta variant’s peak, a grim figure that experts believe will rise.
Statistics show that an average of over 2,000 people are dying from the virus in the US every day, roughly on par with the deaths seen in late September.
Why the higher death toll?
Dr Abraar Karan, an infectious disease doctor at Stanford University, told the BBC that the high death toll is largely a factor of the high hospitalisation rate, even if the symptoms of the Omicron variant are generally less severe than those of Delta.
"When you have a more transmissible virus, it would exponentialise the number of severe cases and deaths. “Even if you have a low percentage of severe cases, the absolute number can still be quite high. A small percentage of a very large number is still a large number.”
Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shows that a vast majority - as much as 75% - of those dying are older than 65.
We’re fairly screwed too though
The word “we” really doing a lot of work here.
About vaccination mandates.

Grunching.
So suspicion about Dad spending two full days in the ER due to Covid patients tying up all the beds confirmed by the physical therapist. He’s in a room now.
I’m going to have trouble controlling myself the next time I see a covidiot.
He has balance issues, coordination issues (think Airplane movie drinking problem), some speech and aphasia (he knows me but but couldn’t say my name, he could describe the TV but not say television until given a prompt, also can’t recognize written words. Any/all of which may or may not resolve with rehab (or could partially resolve and then stall).
He doesn’t fully understand what’s happened. He’s clearly got some frustration
Recommendation will be to move to inpatient stroke rehab and see how he progresses. Goal and hope is to get him back home, but home may mean going back to Michigan where family is available vs the winter Arizona home with just him and hi girlfriend.
Sucks beyond all words to see him look so confused and helpless.
What? Grandma isn’t at risk of dying if I don’t go to the hospital to get my cut sewn up.
Grandmas will die of worrying if you dont take care of yourself.
A third of people are stressed and frustrated and two-thirds are really confused why some pollster who called them while they were on the way to Applebee’s thought they’d be frustrated. Dude it’s two for $20 Tuesday, what gives???
More like two for $40 night. Thanks Obiden!
So I was wrong about something. Organ transplant patients should have to get covid vaccines before transplantation.
Uggh, don’t even tell me. Someone got an organ transplant, then got Covid, then died? Christ.
There was a story on World News Tonight about a 31 year old patient in Boston who needs a transplant but isn’t getting one because he isn’t vaccinated. I see no issues with this. They had a medocal ethicist on to explain the reasoning, and ot basically comes down to “you’re an idiot who is way more likely to die post transplant, so we’ll save the scarce organs for people who have a better shot at living”.
What I will never understand is what kind of fucking nutjob thinks a bunch of docs is completely fucking incompetent when it comes to the relatively easy job of making COVID recommendations but this same group of incompetents is totally acceptable to cut him open and shove someone’s kidney in there.
Ya I read about that yesterday.
https://boston.cbslocal.com/2022/01/24/covid-19-vaccine-heart-transplant-boston-brigham-womens/
Dr. Arthur Caplan is Head of Medical Ethics at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. He says being vaccinated is necessary for this type of procedure. “Post any transplant, kidney, heart whatever, your immune system is shut off,” Caplan said. “The flu could kill you, a cold could kill you, COVID could kill you. The organs are scarce, we are not going to distribute them to someone who has a poor chance of living when others who are vaccinated have a better chance post-surgery of surviving.”
While the family says DJ has received great care from doctors and nurses at Brigham and Women’s, they just don’t agree with the heart transplant COVID vaccination policy. “I think my boy is fighting pretty damn courageously and he has integrity and principles he really believes in and that makes me respect him all the more.”
Which is why the family is sticking by DJ’s side and hoping for the best. “It’s his body. It’s his choice,” Ferguson said.
On one hand you could get a vaccine, on the other hand you die. Apparently a tough choice.
