COVID-19 (2): Turns out it's going to be pretty bad actually

What part of TN did you move to? I grew up in East TN and went to college in Nashville.

Near Gallatin. 20 min or so from Nashville.

:+1:

Canā€™t speak for the rest of the state, but most supermarkets in Atlanta have one-way flow in the aisles, and some form of limited capacity.

Palm Beach County is having a press conference about COVID 19 right now. Sounds like they are relaxing restrictions on some activities.

I lurk a board dedicated to the NBA and the difference between here and there re: covid19 is hilariously stark. Over there, 66% of posters are like, ā€œweā€™re past the peak, time to responsibly open up, Ron DeSantis is doing a great job!, DONā€™T TRUST THE MSMā€. Many genuinely believe China intentionally set this thing loose. There was a thread in which the OP states that the WWE is an essential business and many posters agreed.

Over here itā€™s like, ā€œThey are undercounting cases and deaths, there will be a second and maybe third wave, 100k+ will die, I will not leave my house until 2022ā€.

The level of discourse is higher here, for sure, which should be no surprise. I donā€™t really have a point to this, it just tickles me how I can be of the same species as some of these other alleged humans. I could live 10,000 lifetimes and never think that wrassling is essential during a pandemic.

Have you seen our abolish all landlords and general strike threads? I like to think we can bring the crazy too.

I like that many of the people who are constantly saying ā€œDonā€™t trust mainstream media!ā€ feel the need to trust their Facebook friends, astroturfed right-wing media, their dog, et al. I get that the MSM is BIASED and all that other nonsense you believe, but, bro, this isnā€™t a binary thing, that doesnā€™t mean that the mentally ill con-artists you get information from are necessarily correct! And if Iā€™ve ever seen unbiased truth-tellers, they are definitely your friendā€™s uncle and his favorite right-wing site that hasnā€™t updated their look since 1997.

I donā€™t think itā€™s (necessarily) craziness or (necessarily) stupidity, I think itā€™s all about ideology first and everything else gets filtered through that. Obviously these things can be hard to parse, but I donā€™t think mental health or intelligence is the first motivator for most people.

Lol, they are going to open old white-people activities like golf and boating, but beaches are staying closed.

The evil Chinese plot of unleashing the virus in their own country to get at America is a common one in the derposphere.

Iā€™ve avoided that thread because I couldnā€™t imagine anything posted there that would be dumber than the anti-vaxxer content around the place.

MM MD

I would say our MQ is lower here

(Moron Quotient)

Argh

Yeah thatā€™s all true. I just thought it was encouraging that NYC seems to be counting deaths pretty well with a positive per test rate of like 1/5. Pretty much everywhere else in the country is getting lower positive per test rates than that so hopefully counting of covid deaths elsewhere in the country is similarly decent.

and are you really linking to a fuckin 50 minute beefy doctor youtube?

You think the guy wearing the 6 thousand dollar suit is gonna catch coronavirus?!? Come on!

6 days later, I got my covid 19 test result back: happy to report itā€™s NEGATIVE!

I started feeling better around Fridayā€¦ of course Iā€™m very relieved to be negative, so now I can go back to work.

If Iā€™d been positive, I likely would have needed to quarantine for minimum 2 weeks, with 2 consecutive negative tests before I could go back to work.
