The real Pessimism v Optimism debate is about the societal effects. Nobody is really being optimistic even though there’s a huge range of positive outcomes.
Jman was talking about an Andromeda Strain and Disneylands getting turned to glass, not a really bad cold. This is in the positive half of his doomsaying.
In the discussion of people with remarkable foresight does anyone else remember @suzzer99 posting about conserving TP by folding over corners and getting another wipe?
I’m legit pretty bad about TP use, but I’m going to make amends when I spend my old age camped out on BLM land pooping in holes and wiping with sticks.
I was thinking about this the other day, didn’t want to post it and make it look like I was happy about coronavirus or would consider it possible to have a silver lining… But it will probably cause a major reduction in carbon emissions for a while, so that could save some lives.
It could lead to a transfer of wealth downward, but it could also go the other way.
It should guarantee one term only for Trump, unless he cancels the election, so that saves lives too.
Yeah, all the people saying “M4A seems like a good idea now huh” aren’t being snarky, they’re saying “holy shit we want to make sure this doesn’t happen again!”
An update on my journey to Florida to drive my grandparents home.
I found someone to ride/drive with me if I waited a day, so we left this morning and are just coming up on the CDC headquarters on the way there. Hope to be back home in my bed tomorrow night, after 2400 miles in a car in 2 days.
