Before I became an attorney, I grew potatoes commercially. This is me visiting El Parque de la Papa in Perú, which is where the potato originated.
Wow Lawnmower man. You should have shot some video and sent to the tv station. Those people need to be shamed. Where are you?
I had physical therapy, dentist, and orthopedic appts early in the week. All have signs, hand sanitizer, etc. dentist was the best but they were really just already used to a high standard sticking their hands in peoples mouths (lady dentist, must be a rule to be a solid 7+ to work there. Bonus-my wife chose the practice).
Which person are you?
Guy on the left
Potatoes are good food for people who ran away from States. Early states taxed people by taxing grain and they forced people to grow grain because it is easy to tax. It gets harvested all at once and it keeps well when stored. The State can come by and take their cut. Anything that grows in the ground, keeps for a long time in the ground, but not for a long time once harvested is hard to tax.
Could you talk more about growing potatoes? I feel dumb talking about how good an option potatoes are for emergency food scarcity gardening option when I’ve only grown potatoes a few times and there’s a professional potato growing guy in the thread.
This forum is great

I can’t tell whether you are being sarcastic/patronizing, but what would you like to know? They take between 90 and 110 days to grow, so if people don’t have them planted already, probably not a good option for immediate food needs.
No not being sarcastic or patronizing at all. Just wondering if there is anything else to growing potatoes. The three (I think) times I planted potatoes in a garden we just buried them in loose soil with some fertilizer stuff and watered them and they came in great. And it does seem like they’re the only gardening crop that would actually yield significant calories. Maybe winter squash? But a lot less I think. I was genuinely curious what someone who actually knows something about growing potatoes would think of all that.
This is where my snarky, smart ass forum persona gets me, I guess. My fault. Sad!
lol canada
Seriously, who doesn’t have a handgun stashed in their waistband? I have two.
Lol Trump forever and ever
- There are more than 2,000 cases of coronavirus in the US now with 43 dead
- In Mexico, there have only been 16 confirmed cases and no reported deaths
- Health Minister Hugo Lopez-Gatell said: ‘Mexico wouldn’t bring the virus to the United States, rather the United States would bring it here’
Blue college town in the middle of deep red country. Only sign I saw was between the restroom mirrors reminding to wash hands properly. I remember during EBOLA there were signs everywhere and people were more shook. Maybe there were COVID signs in patient and exam rooms, dunno. Nobody seemed worried. I stopped at a gas station and observed people filling up rawdog and zipping off. And I mean everyone.
Lol like US reporters are going to bother talking about a man with a gun getting in a scuffle.
I am just awed by all the people cramming themselves into grocery stores passing around the corona virus. It is amazing behavior.
Anyone else just want to catch it and get it over with? At least then I could possibly be of some use and also wouldn’t be terrified to go help my elderly parents. (Silent generation not boomers, they deserve to live!)
