Every time a migrant commits a violent crime we should be pointing out how the deportations have failed. Every time a long standing community member is deported and their family is ruined we should be pointing out how deportations have failed. If it rains on a goddamned weekend we should be blaming it on the failed deportation program.

This isn’t a bad plan but I think it would just lead to escalation.

Does that bronze stuff come off like makeup or what?

The least thing we need to do is gin up more support for deportations.

Saying nothing isn’t going to make it less popular…

Given his past history, my prediction is that there’ll be a very highly publicized deportation of a few thousand folks, whatever the lowest-hanging fruit is, and then he’ll declare victory and basically announce that he deported more people than all other presidents in history combined.

And of course that’ll work great with your average GOP voter in rural Ohio or something who’s never even seen an immigrant, who’ll be like “Makes sense, I haven’t been raped or murdered by an illegal even once since Trump took office! Best president ever.”

I feel like we’ve memory holed how brutal Trump’s immigration policies were during his first term. And I see no reason why term #2 won’t be far worse.

Soap and water, I would guess. Now picture Donald Trump in the shower.

No I hear you, I mean for sure the day to day stuff, and whatever they’re doing to migrants that they detain at the border is gonna be equally as shitty or worse. I’m just talking about this enormous undertaking of deporting millions of people across the continental US that would involve crazy logistics that Trump and Co have so far proven completely incapable of managing.

this is hilarious… so bc i have my ohio conceal carry license, i can conceal carry in maryland, but residents of maryland can’t :rofl::rofl:

can that sort of bill pass? I kinda doubt it.

I assume that he is talking about an executive order, not a bill. But who knows.

Lot of unneeded time and effort dealing with the legislature, Trump gonna streamline the government imo.

executive orders don’t have unlimited power, though trump of course surely thinks they do but I guess LOL LAW and all

You don’t need unlimited power. You need some power. Or at least some influence. I don’t know how much. But someone has to arrest you for having a gun and if you know they won’t, I guess that is good enough.

If he really wants to pass something, there are probably ways to tack it on to some bit of legislation that contains a lot of popular or important items and dare Democrats/“moderate Republicans” to hold up the rest of the stuff.

Counterpoint: pretty sure the doctrine of “fuck you, no.” Is still undefeated.

I bet it could. The GOP has become so polarized on guns I am pretty certain you could get them to sign anything on the pro-gun side of the debate.
