Never fails to amuse me when Trump supporters cite a flaw in Harris as their reason for supporting Trump, despite the fact that invariably Trump has the very same flaw severalfold.

In studying reasoning, you find that people generally work back from a conclusion they reached through non-rational means (or rational means they do not apprehend) and then find some articulable rationale that makes sense to them. When I hear voters say they prefer Trump over Harris because “the economy” or “immigration” what I actually hear is “because I am”: “a Christian conservative/in a cult/hate 'dem gays/mad at the world/all of the above, etc.” The level at which political decisions are made among the uninformed or the misinformed is below the level at which policy issues are discussed. It is the “deep story” people walk around with, not the way they respond when they try to justify themselves to journalists or pollsters.

It’s the only thing that has a progressive rate component (lol loopholes). Pretty much everything else is regressive.
