College Football 2025: Hoosier Natty

I think the talent gap is just too high but never discount the possibility of LOL RYAN DAY

Sadly I feel like this is the year OSU covers

Do not relish BU and a few third string RB vs this defense.

Wunderground currently saying High 30, Low 26, 3.5 inches of snow expected.

Marshall will play, bigger issue is losing Brederson.

Michigan moving up to 15 means they’re almost certainly in the CFP if they win imo.

I’m going to enjoy watching Virginia get into the playoff and win it.

Just kidding. We certainly have a good chance to get in, but we’d lose in the first round. Our chances to make it just took a big hit, though, as our best defensive player tore his ACL. So now we’re without LB1, TE1, two starting OL, and RB2, I think.

Been an amazing season, though. While I’d be disappointed if we lost in the ACC Championship Game, beating VT to get there and have at least a 10-win season would be incredible.

UVA isn’t making the playoffs They are ass

Someone from the ACC has to.

(Well I guess not if it’s LOL Duke)

Someone from the ACC absolutely does not have to make the playoff

I mean, Virginia certainly isn’t in the class of the top teams - of course not - but they are still a pretty good, top 20-ish team. And if they beat Virginia Tech and then SMU (most likely opponent) in the ACC championship, they are in the playoff.

I don’t see any way this happens outside of Duke winning the conference.

The top 5 conference champs make it. So barring absolute craziness in the ACC, that’s SEC, BIG, Big XII, ACC, and then probably the American Conference (Tulane or North Texas), or maybe JMU out of the Sun Belt.

No guarantee Virginia beats VT, even though VT stinks. We can never beat them and our offense has definitely struggled of late, except for last game.

If Virginia, Miami, SMU, Pitt, or Georgia Tech win the ACC, they will be one of the top 5 conference champs. Duke would be the only one that might get jumped by North Texas/Tulane and JMU.

While the NC State and Wake Forest losses are definitely concerning, I would say the 2-point win over WSU and the 1-point win over UNC are also extremely suspect.

Oh yeah, for sure. I was unable to watch the UNC game and was shocked when I saw on an update on my phone that we stopped a two-point conversion in OT to win. Bottom line, though, was that they won the games. (also, the WF loss was without Virginia’s starting QB after the 1st quarter).

Again, not saying Virginia is some great team, but they are still good. And after the last few years, to be sitting at 9-2 with a legit shot at the playoff (even assuming a first-round thumping) and lots of good vibes is pretty cool.

For schools like Michigan, Ohio State, Alabama, etc., every year is natty or bust. Virginia fans are just enjoying the ride this season.

Miami went 10-2 last year and got left out and they were an actual football team.

ok

Need to have an NIT tourney for football imo.

This…isn’t relevant to the discussion?

You mean take all the shitty bowl games with 6-5 teams and turn them into a tournament?

Ain’t nobody got time for that.

Let’s say Michigan beats OSU by 14

And all other top teams win

And UVA wins the acc with two more 3 point wins

Committee isn’t leaving UM for UVA acc trash champ

Might as well put the MW champ in

They will be 11-2 as well

It’s literally in the rules. The top 5 conference champs make the playoff. It will be the same if it’s SMU or Pitt. (regardless of whether or not Michigan gets in - I have no idea if they will - I honestly don’t pay attention to any teams except mine)

I made a joke about my team that is having a good season after several years of being terrible running the table to win the national championship and you got unreasonably mad.

I will say the dumb thing about the playoff system is that it was supposed to be a setup where the committee studies the field and selects the best teams (within parameters like conference champs getting auto bids) based on overall resume. But that’s really not what’s happening. It’s become just the same as the polls where teams move up if they win and down if they lose, so you’d better lose early or you’re fucked.
