Yeah unfortunately we’re all just always going to hit the reality that CFB is a shit sport except for like 10 teams. Will always be stupid until it’s addressed.
A football upset just requires such an emptying of the tank that it’s really hard to follow it up with an equal performance.
Georgia offense looks pretty fine. Betting ND might have been a mistake.
I think every betting site’s Featured Boost for this game involved the Over
Maybe we just say playoff teams have to cover the Vegas spread or gtfo. Instant parity.
Geez, that’s a tough penalty.
I love the ESPN Rules Officials.
Every conversation is:
“Hey Matt, what did you think of that call?”
“Yeah Herbie… these idiot refs really fucked that one up”
“Thanks Matt. Anyways, it’s 1st and 20”
ads in-between downs now? fuck off ESPN
Any attempt to improve upon having media dumbasses vote for who wins the title has just made everything worse.
Imagine Indiana having this season in 1996. They would’ve played a tougher B10 schedule so maybe go 9-2 or 8-3. They end up with a January 1st bowl game against South Carolina or Ole Miss that’d be a 3 hour celebration of Cignetti and what they accomplished. And fans would genuinely care about the result of that bowl game.
Instead this year they’re given a shot (but not really) and the rest of CFB sees them as frauds who wasted a playoff game.
Teams coming out of nowhere and winning their conference is one of the coolest things in US sports. ‘95 Northwestern, ‘06 Wake Forest, ‘94 Oregon, Ryan Leaf’s ‘97 WSU team. Those teams are bid-stealing frauds in this system.
Letting that clock run with less than 2 mins left from the 50.
With 3 timeouts that’s probably smart. You’d need a lot of plays on this drive for the clock to become an issue
I think the bigger problem is with 18-team conferences than with the 12-team playoff.
Conference titles don’t mean what they used to because unbalanced schedules just bring so much randomness into it.
I think some configuration with a 12 team playoff is fine if you go can go back to 10 team leagues where you play a true round Robin as your conference schedule every year
Not every year’s going to play out like this year. There’s going to be close games, there’s going to be upsets.
What’s the alternative people wanted to see this year? Georgia, Texas, Oregon, Penn State playoff? And everyone else playing the meaningless bowl games no one cares about, and even more players opting out?
Using your first timeout on a dead ball FG attempt when you have :40 to play with is also weird. But maybe they will kneel on it and I’m giving this UGA offense too much credit with this QB.
Yup, I gave them too much credit.
Old man shouting at clouds etc
Undefeated Oregon vs one-loss Penn State in the Rose Bowl with an understanding that the norm is for the media to vote the winner number one.
If there’s going to be a playoff it should be the original BCS structure. Six auto-bids and two at-larges.
Never going to happen because money but if we’re doing super conferences at least give us stuff like a Northwest Championship Trophy, America’s Wang Cup etc that combines conference and OOC games.
There really should only be one mega-conference in college football.
BRING. BACK. THE. WAC.
Meanwhile, another team with a bye getting blown out.

Maybe they could do a losers bracket and the frauds could play for a NIT-like trophy? This gives them more games and tickets to sell too.
