Alabama and other schools benefit from being in the SEC to the point where no theoretically easy playoff route would even be worth five seconds of consideration.
Teams get screwed but ultimately I have the worlds smallest violin for a team not getting a chance to be national champion when they couldnāt win their conference. Just like with BCS. Didnāt go undefeated? Still not fair but you had a path.

Ohio State winning the title over Penn State 24-13 is the final we deserve.
Moving to having the top two ranked teams in-conference and eliminating divisions theoretically cuts down on a lot of these scenarios. Without that, I could definitely see this happening. There were a few years there before Kirby got to Athens when the SEC west had 5/6 ranked teams while the East was dogshit top to bottom (like when Missouri won the East I think they had 3 losses or something like that). And it would have been laughable to have that team in a playoff like we have now.
Thereās no good playoff and every attempt to improve it makes things worse. Been saying this a long time.

There are so many people complaining already that next year the conf champion will get auto bids but the byes will be top 4.
Also anyone saying Penn state has a bye to the semi hasnāt watch Penn state all year or James Franklin his entire life. They are def fucking this up.
