College Basketball 2021-22 Season Thread

That might have been the best game I’ve seen since the Qualls dunk to end the game.

Nice catch on the river.

I never thought of a good tiebreaker for the last longer. Losing in the same round seems fairly likely so lemme know. Margin of defeat or coin flip?

My suggestion was points versus spread. If still a tie, then just destined to be a push

and yes, hell of a fucking game

Still don’t get how you all lost to Hofstra and Vandy

Instead of the SEC tourney I would like to do a round robin of Arkansas, Auburn, Kentucky, and Tennessee each playing each other once.

Lolwtf

Louisville women’s bball is up 45-6 on ND in the second quarter. ND is ranked 14. It was 41-2 as I was pulling.up the UP app.

Nebraska was beating Wisconsin at halftime.

A flagrant 2 and a technical foul and Wisconsin is already in double bonus with 15:43 left. Nebraska’s coach has been begging to get T’ed up but hasn’t yet.

Nebraska is my new fav team.

wisconsin are massive frauds, absurdly good luck in close games

Yeah, I’ve “worked” at all Wisconsin’s home games this year and I’m convinced Johnny Davis is massively overrated.

And yes, this may be a truly awful take.

Never thought I would come in March and say…hey check out our Women’s basketball team…(it really was cool for Women’s basketball to dominate the UK sports headlines for a weekend)

We were at one point 9-11 and 2-8 in conference

I mean going on a 10 game win streak with a last 5 second shot to beat the #1 team was awesome

Fun times in the Atlantic Sun tournament

So the question is, who makes the NCAA tournament?

Jacksonville State. So apparently if you are new to D1 you are ineligible to make the tournament for the first four years. Since Bellarmine is new, the regular season champ makes the tournament instead

This is why many conferences prohibit ineligible teams from participating in conference tournaments.

What is the reasoning behind this rule?

It’s something about how recruiting (and other regulations) for D2 is different than D1, so they’re forced to wait until they have a full class of students under the D1 rules before they can compete for titles.

It sounds stupid to me.

South Dakota State has 30 wins and just punched their ticket by winning the Summit League, the same league that had the Blow Job Bobs run to the S16 as a 15 seed last year.

The Jackrabbits seem solid and are going to be a tempting 5/12 or 4/13 upset pick.

Thanks. While that does sound stupid, it is slightly less stupid than what I was expecting.

So if a kid redshirts and is still with the team after year 4, even though he was recruited when the school was D2, the team can still make the tournament with that kid on the roster. Is that right?

I think so, but I’m very far from an expert here.

in a game important for some of us, wagner got blown the hell out by bryant in the tourn final 43-70. ouch

the furman chattanooga title game ended up being game of the year, furman hit a 3 to force OT, then hit a bucket without about 5 seconds left in OT to go up 2 and chattanooga just ran up and fired up some ugly looking 3 that of course was all net to send them to the dance

Furman didn’t miss a shot in overtime. Tough way to lose a ncaa tournament berth.

Jacksonville State is a stone cold lock for a big upset now.
