I’m a fan of Gilbert Gottfried and “too soon” humor.

You liking “too soon” humor is the least surprising thing I’ve ever read

Some people say it is gauche to make fun of the recently dead, so sometimes I try to get my licks in while they are still on their deathbed.

RIP Bob Lanier. Pistons of my youth. My father-in-law grew up in Buffalo where Lanier is from.

I could post a basketball highlight but going for the laugh instead. (He is mentioned at the end of the bit).

He’s not all that famous and idk if he was non-terrible, but Vangelis is dead and I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt.

I suppose that being press-shy, or even press-hostile is not necessarily a vice. But I’ve read enough of Norman Lebrecht to think that being Norman Lebrecht-hostile is a virtue.
Here’s Chariots of Fire for which he won an Oscar:

When I was a youngster my father just had to see that in the theater, and had to drag his children with him. And of course he loved the music. Dad always did have shitty taste in music.

What a great video! Ashtray on the Steinway. srs biz intensity. Then a couple quick trips to the synths and percussion section even though they were playing when he wasn’t there, and the piano doesn’t pause in his absence. A+ would chariot again.

I had a near identical dad experience too. That’s such a dad movie.

Heard dicey things about Ray, but I love him. Goodfellas is my favorite movie of all time.

RIP

Sucks. Ray Liotta was a hell of an actor.

Goodfellas is mine.

No coincidence who stars in them.

It seems so odd that he’s in two such amazing movies, acted for so many years, but wasn’t really in anything else memorable. His wiki cites that he’s best known for those two movies, and being in GTA.

Tommy Verceti was the first really prominent GTA character and its in no small part to Ray voicing him. Its a perfect casting for that game

He also narrated the 30 for 30 episode Playing for the Mob about the point-shaving scandal involving BC.

He was the victim of typecasting later in his career. Kinda screwed him.

I liked him in that abc cop show w JLo. Was a weird show for ABC but was pretty good.
