I don’t know if you are just lacking experience in interacting with people or live in some sort of chezlaw fantasyland, but the problem is not what is being asked of him. He wasn’t even asked a question about a subject. He was asked to pick from a long list of subjects and then explain his position it. Not sure why you believe that is unfair to him or attacking him.
