Bread Thread

In the garbage. Back to day one. Sourdough sure is fun.

Slightly different recipe and 25%WW from second feed.

Thanks.

During your first week did you feed once or twice a day.

I may have just figured out my fail. I’m using tap water. Apparently the chlorine can kill it?

Do you guys use filtered water?

Ok going to change to filtered water thanks again for all the help.

Very nice looking loaves.

Not that matters until I figure out this damn starter thing but I bought the blade for scoring but can’t figure out how the razor blades attach to the handle. lol.

This sourdough thing is my Everest!

LIFE!!

I’ve had 3 or 4 starters going in the past just fine but then the regular feeding shit ruins it for me. On day 5 on this attempt now.

Not to jinx myself. But day 5 of round two and nice life still! :crossed_fingers:

Ohhhhhh never thought of sourdough banana bread!

Don’t want to jinx myself but day 6 and I think I might have a workable starter!

Yep failure is imminent in two days!

Mine is day 9 and bubbles but not expanding in volume yet. That looks good.

That’s what happened to my last one. Did you use all AP? The 50/50 AP to Wheat seems to have been my ticket.

Bubbling is great afaik, it just needs time to start expanding from what I’ve read. If you had bubbles before I think it was going then.

Ya I might have gave up on try one too soon. The other thing I did with this one is at 12 hour mark I gave it a small feeding. Didn’t remove any just added a big spoon of flour and equal water. Mixed and left for real feeding 12 hours later.

My friend just sent me this.

I’m on a golf weekend so had to put my starter in the fridge.

I am going to try this week sometime.

What are good ratios in grams for the small proofing basket so the loaf fits?
