This is the most boomer shit I’ve ever seen and a perfect example of why boomers shouldn’t be in charge of anything.

Like, I’m sure that most of these people have the best intentions and legitimately see nothing wrong with what they are doing.

Infuriatingly out of touch with how the world works for younger people.

I don’t think that volunteering olds is the solution to the worker shortage.

I’m actually fine with it. They won’t last those jobs suck.

That’s what I meant.

Many of them are really invested in the idea that millennials are lazy, entitled, blah blah blah vs. their generation which is all hard working, no nonsense blah blah blah. Even if they’re miserable the olds might try to tough it out rather than admit that they can’t do the jobs they insist millennials should pull up their pants and quit complaining about.

Yeah I was hiking in Lake Arrowhead last week and came upon a little burger-stand-looking place by the boat dock where it was the only option around for a mile or more. It was closed with a big sign that said “Closed due to no labor”. Had to be some boomer prick that owns the place.

A) Can’t be more than a two-person job. Whomever made that sign could run half the operations.

B) I bet you paid $100 an hour someone would show up. Now start working down and see how far you can get before everyone says “nahhhhh”.

C) 99% of people who live or vacation in Lake Arrowhead can afford to pay $15 for a burger. The bread and butter is vacation home owners and people like me paying $120/night for a studio rental. Raise your prices, pay your employees more, and see what happens.

They’d probably raise prices a ton all at once, then put up a big sign that says, “PRICES HAVE GONE UP DUE TO LABOR SHORTAGE” - just to make sure to blame on the workers, and piss everyone off in the process. Then of course blame govt handouts when their business drops off.

“Lodgers” really used to help with the profit margins of cotton fields, in the good old days.

But the person that made the sign is already taking all the risk, you see.

I’m pretty sure he understood you and was just using the opportunity to make a (pretty decent) joke.

BUT SUZZER, what if that overpaid laborer gets fancy ideas about getting paid more even when the pandemic is over? What then?

Job demand goes down, wages fall. That’s just the natural order of things. Deal with it snowflake.

Job demand stagnates, wages stagnate. That’s just the natural order of things. Suck it up buttercup.

Job demand goes up, THE WHOLE WORLD COMES TO AN END WE’RE ALL GONNA FUCKING DIE
