Cities and Knights is the best expansion that I’ve played.
It’s more complex than the base game, but if you know the base game well, it shouldn’t be problematic.

I’d love to start playing Dominion again. The people I know who like board games are pretty causal and don’t really dig strategy-heavy games. I don’t blame them for that approach but it does leave an itch that needs to be scratched.
Is it on Board game arena?
Cities and Knights is the best expansion, IMO, but it significantly increases the length of the game, especially if you’re playing 5-6 players. I don’t know what the box claims but in my experience you’re looking at a few hours minimum which might not be great for everyone.
The base game used to be, but isn’t any longer. Isotropic was a way better site for it anyway, but that doesn’t exist either.
They made their own thing.
Dominion’s own thing is pretty kickass. Just joined it and played my first game.
Base set is free. Other sets require a monthly subscription. Just $5/month and only the person who starts the table needs it to access the sets.
Game is super fun to play.
If you register an account, let me know. Game is ideal with at least 3 players. 4-5 is the sweet spot.
I’m skeptical of this. Nothing scales properly in Dominion, because you add 10 curses per extra player (should be 5) and zero kingdom cards, while victory cards only scale normally up to 3 players (after that, it’s down to 3/player instead of 4). And there are already lots of really powerful attack cards in 2 player mode. Getting Torturered or Sea Hagged 2 or 3 times between turns would be really bad. Also, a lot of the subtle strategy in Dominion is based around the fact that it’s very hard for one player to unilaterally end the game either on Provinces or piles, which gives a lot of leeway to slower engine styles (the engine player can effectively “veto” a fast ending game by not buying Provinces). If you have a 4-player game where 3 players rush to buy provinces, then a complicated engine is not going to be viable, because the game will end after each of those 3 players buys only 4 provinces. (Piling out can be even faster.)
for isotropic.
That said, I do have a new-fangled Dominion account (KingsSkort) and would love to play with anyone who wants to sometime.
I could be down for a board game night.
Would you be willing to try out Dominion? Definitely a more strategy-heavy game than a casual board game night but that’s what makes it fun (at least to me).
Yes but idk how wed manage the time zone difference between Ohio and Euro-land.
For the next few days, it shouldn’t be bad. It’s summer break for me. Starting the 11th, I’ll be in Bulgaria for most of the rest of July. So I’ll be more committed to enjoying my time there. Then in August, I’ll be commitment-free until the final week of that month.
Fuck them. They used to allow you to buy the expansions for a flat price. Then they switched to a monthly service and my expansions didn’t carry over.
Isotropic for life RIP :(
Dude if I get enough people, I pay the subscription and you pay nothing. It’s like 5 Euros a month.
Where are the rules
Id like to learn as well
It’s really something you need to learn as you play.
Simply put, it’s a deck-building game where you want to trash shitty cards, buy good cards, and then use them to acquire “victory points”. Most victory points at the end of the game wins.
More detail: Welcome to Dominion Online!
If you register at www.dominion.games, I can get you to join an online game and we can play a teaching game.
Seriously?
That’s a lot for just one game.
The premium version of Boardgamearena is $2 a month and the site has like 300 games.
4 Euros actually
2 Euros/month gets you half the sets (6 sets).
For real, let me know when you got accounts and we’ll set a time.
I do enjoy slay the spire, so deckbuilding is in my blood. Ill check it out
The main appeal to me is summed up by Wikipedia
Of course, we’ll have access to all of the sets if there’s enough interest.
