My recollection is liberals objected to Mason limiting the viciousness with which we could dunk on the conservatives.
You recall wrong. Mat talked about nuking the forum so people organized to start something else and then started it when he did nuke the forum. They reopened pol pretty soon, but the new thing(s) had already started.
