Bluesky thread: an elon free zone

Freedom is finally here

Democracy dies in darkness

I don’t think it would have been easy to predict so many people would think, or at least claim to think, that Twitter was literally an existential threat to democracy and still not stop using it.

Thank you for your contribution to the greater good by not consuming any products owned by liberals or conservatives.

Your boy is literally trolling people about joining Bluesky in other threads, there is no consistent principles here.

Twitter being a problem is exactly why one should use it. To fight.

People have been calling out musk for years before he bought twitter.

I don’t care if a conservative or liberal own a business. I do care if they have power to spew bullshit and hate and actually use that power to do so.

I’m going to continue to make fun of people who think like this

You boycott corporations that you’re fighting, or monkey wrench them.

plz don’t feed the troll.

I’m very skeptical it’s ever going to be a platform for meaningful fighting. IIRC way back during the Arab Spring there was the idea that Twitter could be a useful way to organize protests, but I don’t think that ever really panned out and I don’t think the billionaire perverts who own Twitter (and also Bluesky) are going to ever let it become a real challenge to their power.

“real challenge to their power”

I laughed out loud. Only russia style power do they pull off stopping anything.

lol, Elon deleted the Italian Musk parody account, what do you imagine will happen if people start using X dot com to organize meaningful opposition to his power?

Also, oligarchs in the US have Russia-style power now, thanks to the courts and the submission of the opposition party.

yes, a stupid parody account would’ve really overthrown the billionaires

That wasn’t my point, but w/e.

Way too rigged imo. Leaving is what will help, until it is like Truth or Parlor. I’ve gone several days without logging on to Twitter, which is probably a record over the last decade. I’ll still check it on occasion, and I need to curate my BS feed more, but I think Twitter is headed for the ditch in 2025.

I found twitter unusable even before the musk takeover, the interface has to be one of the worst on the entire web, and the content is usually terrible outside of some hacker feeds i follow that i could get elsewhere anyway

There’s some merit to this idea. It’s similar to the Edems abandoning the working class.

How’d that go with 2+2?
