Betting on Politics: Predictit is NOT Dead

Is the “Will Biden’s margin of victory in Wisconsin shrink by 100+ votes after recount?” free money? I’m trying to scoop up the 97-99ers that will pay out soonest now

There’s no doubt it my mind if they opened a market on Jan 21st on who the President is they’d be all over it.

Great point, I need to start reading the fine print.

I agree with this, I don’t think it’s a lock. I’m just betting on McConnell having his shit locked down and betting that the current price is favorable because MAGA is holding it down. Since this post I’ve slowly accumulated some positions, haven’t gone for max yet.

Predictit should start a market on whether or not anyone will win a lawsuit against predictit over their handling of the 2020 Presidential election markets.

Serious question, how does PI handle tax forms? I had to put my info in. Do I get a W-2 G from them or something?

I don’t remember what form it is but yes.

Gotcha, thanks. And I assume they’re reporting profit before withdrawal fees

All the Cabinet pick markets are trading at like 5c right now for the MAGA people, so you can get ~95c-96c no in like 15+ markets. Not worth a deposit but worth rolling your winnings over if you don’t need the cash immediately.

I also entered the stuff like ‘tipping point state’ and ‘state with smallest MOV’ which i wasn’t in previously at 98-99c, basically just looking for the things I think will be graded next and scooping up $8-16 here and there to offset fees

The macron election was too trumpy odds wise as well. Give it some time but they’ll be back. People forget.

Almost positive they actually figure the fees in. Like 80% I read it in their fine print.

Edit: Looked it up. They do include the fees:

For IRS reporting purposes, we calculate net profit as follows:
Net Profit = Gross Profits – Losses – Trading Fees – Withdrawal Fees.
The 5 percent withdrawal fee is included in the calculation whether or not the funds in question have actually been withdrawn from the account.

Easily made more money betting on the election after it was over than before. Thanks MAGA!

I’m still not on this RIGGED leaderboard sad!

I leave for a few minutes to get something to eat and some article comes out saying dems might hold off on fudge/haaland nominations till after march 1st due to the narrow house margin.

Rarely a dull day on PI. sigh of course I miss that train

How long does it take for your money to get to your bank account when you withdraw it?
