That’s not what happened at all. For some reason, RegretS bumped a dormant thread. Some people couldn’t let things go and needed to rehash old arguments. As of now, there are over 1000 posts in the C-word thread after this post.

The C-Word

Jal, you already had the last word. Or is this me getting the last word? How about one more post from you or d2_e4 and then we can let this go before it becomes 200 posts in About Moderation? eta: Doing it this way so hopefully it doesn’t count as me getting the last word, but I wasn’t contemplating locking it, just hoping it dies of natural causes.

That was the first time a mod stepped into the most recent spat. Skydiver was justifiably annoyed that it was happening again.

Let’s be clear about what she threatened.

That’s right. I said I’m putting my foot down. If someone flags a post about this (with the C-word in it, or otherwise perpetuating this shitty forum-ruining argument) and I get to it first, I will temp ban the poster.

She threatened to ban a user for using a word in a context that a member of the community flagged as being used in a bad context. She didn’t threaten to ban anyone for using the word in an unflagged post. And she threatened to ban posters who cause drama over this tired debate, even if they don’t use that word.
