Bailout / Stimulus Discussion (Hints Missed & Shartz Fired)

My first thought when reading that was that Scrooge McDuck must not have been nearly as rich as I thought. So, naturally, I’ve got to get to the bottom of this. After a few seconds of googling:

In the DuckTales episode “Liquid Assets”, Fenton Crackshell (Scrooge’s accountant) notes that McDuck’s money bin contains “607 tillion 386 zillion 947 trillion 522 billion dollars and 36 cents”.

So, yeah, if Dan ever runs into McDuck they’re going to have words.

In the Ducktales timeline, That’s President McDuck.

Just like in our timeline, the son/nephew is a blabbering tool. Thankfully the grandnephews are a bit redeeming and the grandniece is a social justice warrior. Webby 2040.

Give trillions to corporations and rich people? sure!

Forgive some student loans? we really have to consider the costs for this. Man this country sucks sooo much

looool, we could straight up cancel it all for less than the price of one round of “must pass” corporate bailout bullshit

look at the framing below btw, lololololol Karen

We need to wipe out student loan debt, institute a UBI that’s funded by something that is more targeted toward the very wealthy than income tax (not a straight wealth tax because it’s too easy to evade/game… I like the idea of using a VAT tax that delivers enough benefits to people in the bottom 60% that it massively overwhelms any extra cost they take from the VAT… this is entirely because VAT is hard to avoid as a rich person and its basically a tax on gross profits), and we need to exponentially increase the funding for community colleges. Community colleges should be delivering tons of different programs aimed at getting people ready for jobs. The people who teach those community colleges should make a decent living. We should incentivize corporations to send their employees to teach the skills that they need at those community colleges and create a pipeline from those classes to their HR departments.

Doing all of that would definitely do something about racial and economic equity. Doing anything less is basically just admitting that we’re fine with the way things are. The upper middle class very obviously is and likes having a cheap servant class that has to bow and scrape for not enough money to get by. Desperation sets people up for abuse, and the abusers like that.

My boss for my part-time second job who got PPP and tried to make me work for half-rate for the exact number of hours that would kill my unemployment has now realizes he has so much PPP money that I am currently working 39 hours per week at my full teaching rate. So just over here making more than ever and working from home doing work that would normally pay minimum wageish.

LOL.

Not trying to insult anyone who is legitimately in trouble and/or struggling with absurd government incompetence. This is merely another example of their complete and utter failure even if I accidentally benefit.

20 min?
Cliffs?

Scrooge is fucking rich and soon he will have all your shit too.

Ah. Bezos.

Nancy’s latest piece of shit provides COBRA subsidies (what the hell is the point of this, laid off workers can get Obamacare, which is way cheaper), but no election security measures.

FOAD, Nancy.

So HEROES act passes but not signed but if signed we get another stimulus check from Trump? Or some of us get two if still waiting

Only passed the House. It’s pretty much DOA in the Senate though. But yeah the current bill has another one-time payment in there.

From what I understand the repubs would pass another one time payment but basically nothing else?

That’s fantastic. @superuberbob you’re leaving free money on the table.

How do I apply from abroad?

How do I apply from not abroad?

Just doing a quick google expats definitely eligible. They can’t deposit it into a foreign bank account but if you have a US account they can or they can mail you a check.

Everything I looked at indicates you are eligible. If you have not paid taxes I assume you just have to fill out the same form people here used.

Edit: that being said a lot of what I have seen indicates an 18 or 19 tax filing is required but the dates on all the stories seem to be before or around the time they added the non filer portal. I assume you can also use this.

I see now that foreign income was excluded from the final bill so as long as you have a social security number you should qualify.
