Bailout / Stimulus Discussion (Hints Missed & Shartz Fired)

Same letter here (applied 10th).

And also get my payment says May 6 as well for stimulus.

That leaves PA UE.

I billed 0 hours in April. Gonna help. Thankfully the wife’s side of the business is going well (law librarian). Turns out the older attorneys need a lot of help working online. Plus there is an expected legal boom as a result of Covid related claims.

There is a schedule for paper checks. The more you made the longer you wait.

I owed 18 and haven’t filed 19 as well.

It means you are on the list

I did have to play around with the formatting of my address before I got it to work. Make sure you check their actual instructions for doing so. I think it is very unforgiving if you are slightly off.

Another “anecdata” point… My sequence of events:

  • Submitted 2019 taxes 4/5, owe money on an AGI well below $75k, scheduled the payment for 7/15

  • Couple weeks of trying the website and getting the error

  • Last Sunday, got through and put in direct deposit info

  • Today checked my bank and see the following:

  • Checked back on the website just to see what it says and it also says “We scheduled your payment to be deposited on May 06, 2020 to the bank account below.”

Same. May 6

Anecdata (nice, that’s nice) is that once you are in the system, your social and birthdate will trigger a red error message if the only thing incorrect is the address. It will say this info does not match their records.

That is when you will want to be careful as trying too many times will lock you out of the system for the rest of the day. Otherwise you are not in the system yet.

So I’m just incorrectly inputting the address somehow? I have looked at my 18 return and I have been putting it in exactly as it is on the first page of my return "/

For reference this is the error both my wife and I still get:

I wonder how many people got tripped up by ignoring the part where it said not to include city/state in the address.

No, if you were only inputting the address wrong, you would receive a red error message saying the data you entered doesn’t match their records.

Again, anecdotal. Until you see a red error message, you’re not in the system.

Add me to the list of May 6-ers.

I’m wondering how many Americans didn’t bother reading the actual instructions that say not to include city or state.

Seems very odd that somehow both my wife and I have the same problem. We did not file joint tax returns.

That is odd. But it could also be a cluster fuck behind the scenes and any similarities are the coincidence of chaos.

No.

On my return my address is fully spelled out with

SOUTH streetname AVENUE

But for my entry it wanted

S streetname Ave

They convert to the USPS validated street address no matter how you file. You can look up your validated address here: https://www.ups.com/address_validator/search?loc=en_US

I bet “S streetname Ave” is the validated address.

Yes it is for when I have stuff delivered.

But pretty sure it emphasizes “exactly as it is on your 1040” which sure makes life confusing.

I could tell the difference because the fully spelled out error seemed more like a wrong username message than the error when I made it through.

If they do that’s pretty dumb considering they should know they convert the address for all returns when they enter them into the database.
