Bailout / Stimulus Discussion (Hints Missed & Shartz Fired)

You’re going to be really surprised to hear this, but our senate is full of gasbags who live to hear the sound of their own voices. Jesus Christ.

Another newsflash: Rand Paul’s neighbor is a national hero.

Rand Paul is still in the Senate, so what his neighbor did only had superficial results.

Paul’s neighbor beat Paul up a couple years ago.

oh my God Rand is speaking again

Alright despite a little Randstanding they passed it.

Democrats have now passed four(?) stimulus bills without getting any election security provisions.

Well done.

They got their lunch eaten on the messaging. Again. As always. It was “democrats hold up funding bill”. Even now it sounds like they totally caved when in fact by holding out they got money for hospitals, testing, etc.

Dems are soft. They need to be willing to let people die while holding out for election security.

I think they’re more worried about the people who live, go bankrupt, and then vote (or don’t).

The most offensive thing about Ruth’s Chris is its stupid fucking name. It works (but still sucks) as a quaint story for the original owner, a lady who just wanted to keep her one restaurant, not capture the world food and water supply. But she died twenty years ago and sold it to a private equity firm. They should be forced to call it Robber Barons’ Ruth’s Chris, but they don’t because it makes people who respect Their President feel safe and special. Gotta keep that pretentious name so when the rubes ask, they get the back story that confirms America is still all about bootstraps.

Welp, I have bad news. After consulting with a former law professor this morning, I negotiated with my boss for the minimum number of hours he could have me do at half rate.

I will still be eligible for $30/week unemployment from CA which means I get the $600 federal supplement which is sick. I’m still working 16 hours per week for basically free given my lost unemployment benefits. But that’s life I guess, not supposed to get UI if you have a job.

It’s a moral crime if not legal for my boss to cut our payrate in half.

Looks like more good news for those of you who applied for the loan program.

That’s probably a bit too far. I think Olive Garden vs Outback is a much better comparison.

This is pretty accurate, imo.

Only been 2x myself, and it’s been a long time.

Here’s how I would put it. Imagine your favorite steak house. Now imagine some billionaire had a steak there and says, “You know this is pretty great”. So he buys the steak house and decides that he is going to franchise it all over the country.

When you think of the loss of quality involved in pulling that off AND making it profitable, that’s what you get with Ruth’s Chris.

Ruth’s Chris is your guilty pleasure restaurant.

Nobody wants to admit they like it, but ya know.

They held up funding and had to use hospitals and testing and municipalities as their bargaining chips. They suck so hard.

I’ve never eaten at a Ruth’s Chris, but I am a fan of the Carl’s Jr. bacon guacamole burger.

I won’t eat at a place with two first names. Goes against my religion.

My wife and I ate at a Ruth’s Chris on our first trip to Vegas in 2004, before I knew better. It has long since closed.

Pretty sure the Ruth’s Chris at Harrah’s is still open. Had it a few years ago with a group. It was fine.
