Yang’s plan relied on means testing.
It’s not a difficult acronym to grasp - Universal Basic Income
I’m not sure, I think 2018. They were fighting and I could hear them yelling and he came up and asked me what I thought about it lol.
Turns out it is actually Universal* Basic Income.
Small nit to pick but this would be disastrous to do in the residential market, where a large chunk of leases are seasonal. Having leases that normally expire in June potentially expire in January could screw up the entire rental market in an area.
at this point we’re just comparing some unintended and stupid consequences to others. companies spent all that time doing share buybacks and not making investments and now they’re literally going to go bankrupt unless the government bails them out. that’s a stupid consequence
I also made over 100k in 2018 so I guess no money for me. but 1200 dollars isn’t changing anything so it doesn’t matter. I’m just glad my apartment building is almost a fortress.
Dems should just pass something in the House to set the agenda as a starting point in negotiations.
The conservative deserving vs undeserving poor bullshit goes all the way back to forever. To them, the arbitrary cruelty of means testing is a feature not a bug.
Yes they should but lolus they’ll start off with a compromise because reasons like always.
It is sort of strange how prosperity gospel corrupts people’s minds.
Like how hard is it to grasp
Sending your excess to those with less will manifest a better life for everyone
Vs
Sending your excess to those with million dollar churches will manifest a better life for everyone
Same. I have hit all three categories in the last three years. What is the breakdown going to be on these payouts? Like, is the $1200 group going to be a minority?
I’m not going to derail the thread but it’s clear that is not true. It could knock someone off of certain other means tested benefits but so could a higher minimum wage.
Edit: Yang’s plan isn’t even a great or perfect plan but rich were clearly paying more into it than they got back. That was the point of bringing it up.
the part that never made sense was that there was no reason for yang’s plan to knock people off of other benefits. like it was never getting implemented anyway, so what was the point of the cruelty?
A job at CNN?
I’d be happy to discuss in another thread.
How do they not have this sorted out by now
I swear they are all introducing ridiculous proposals and amendments just to guarantee they don’t have to vote for another three weeks
Anyway thanks for listening to my first share at Self Aware Wolves Anonymous
Really cool that the people in charge of running our country have no idea how our economy works.
