Just listened to a webinar on it from a top notch law firm. That’s what they said…
I hate the corporate bailouts but even more than that I hate the politicians who are most against it
This likely helps trump to hundreds of millions on top of kushner.
Good looking out dems
So are people only getting social security getting the $1200?
My mom paid taxes in 2018 as it was her last year working, but didn’t in 2019 because she only got social security.
She should be getting $1200 right?
My understanding is yes she will get it.
But that is just from a cursory reading. Hopefully it will be further clarified. However people receiving federal payments is covered as well as potentially being the means for payout.
I checked the relevant section of the article USC and social security is included in the definition of federal payments.
I am neither an expert nor authority so take all of this for what it is worth.
I don’t understand why we are trying to save the foreign based cruise industry. If it totally folded it would certainly hurt those employed in the industry but they hire mostly non Americans.
The net positive from the cruise industry going away far outweighs the negatives. Maybe we can turn all the ships into free universities.
So all these newly unemployed people have to elect COBRA, right? I mean, most will just go uninsured, but lol at this system. COBRA is well over $2k a month (not deductible) for a family of 4.
If you like your insurance you can keep it! HOW DO PEOPLE FALL FOR THIS SHIT
This isn’t getting enough attention as unemployment spikes during a global pandemic.
They should be able to get coverage on the ACA marketplace as of the day they no longer have coverage. It quite possibly will be free or very low cost due to income. If they are in a state that didn’t expand medicaid, the income level needs to be above the poverty line. Of course that is completely nuts, but that’s what we have. Just thought I would throw the info out there for those that it might help.
Oh, that’s right. You get the choice of COBRA vs ACA right away now, right? It used to be that you had to exhaust COBRA before going to any other healthcare, but that might have been pre-ACA.
COBRA might be the most appropriate acronym in the history of acronyms. Take this healthcare plan that shares a name with a venomous snake and a cartoon terrorist organization.
I don’t know how it works everywhere, but one year I was in grad school and on Covered CA then got a job midway through the year and because the system uses yearly income to determine how much you pay I had to give back all the money I saved on insurance for the time when I was in school. When I had no income. Because later I had income and it happened to be in the same year instead of more favorable timing.
So obviously get ACA but I think you will be paying a significant amount at tax time of you end up going back to work.
Watching Fox & Friends this morning, literally zero talk of “BUT HOW WE GONNA PAY FOR IT” regarding this largest bill in American history outside of Geraldo dismissively saying we’ll be paying for it for generations before emphasizing how we need to “…just get it done already” so Trump can get on with saving the country.
I love that woman.
